How to Bypass PS3 Firmware 3.21 and Connect to PSN

Quick question for you all here. I just bought PAIN and a whole bunch of other costumes for it. I disable the update using the L5 tool. I am able to get onto PSN.

BUT when I first run PAIN it tells me I need to update 5.05 and my PSN logs off. I then go to my PC and redo the L5 tool and log back onto PSN but when it asks me to update to 5.05 I agree to install and the screen goes black and then kicks me off PSN again.. anyone else having some sort of same issue? Same idea goes behind a few other games I need to update. Please help!

yep i can't find a work around either. i dont think we can update the game without updating our ps3's.

Too late to edit but yeah that didn't work it appears that you have to be logged into PSN to play.

logan5 works for me, confirmed on fat 80gig, REMEMBER TO UNCHECK THE BOX and you'll be fine happy gaming.

i too am on a mac. i found this and i will try it when i get home, will report back with results.

I'm running through those instructions for a G4 on Tiger. There's a bit of a change because MacPorts took over the DarwinPorts project after the .org site got shuttered by Apple.

I'm compiling ettercap-ng right now so hopefully it won't be too much longer and I'll update the instructions if it works.

1. Go onto the XMB on the start up screen.

2. Go to Network Settings and select Internet Connection Settings.

3. Click Custom - [any option] - [any option] - Manual.

4.For you IP address, you may want to go to your router webpage to find out this remaining info, but for the primary DNS you need to put 67.202.81.137 which should trick the PS3 into thinking you're fully updated.

5. Choose your settings from here on.
