The Attack of the Clones Bug (if you mess up the "char.bin" file)
The really funny thing is that you will get a PS3 trophy for it (reaching LV 9999 with the main character). Because one of the town character has this high level und this character is tagged with your name. Really messed up...
The repeating characters bug with the talk.dat file seems to caused by the game expecting the text to be in Shift-JIS format, not ASCII. So converting the single-byte ASCII characters to their two-byte Shift-JIS equivalents looks like one way of fixing that problem. Will have figure out exactly how the talk.dat file is constructed before I can write a tool to do the convertin'.
It's also safe to include ToenEditMEssage - but it gives the same bug as talks.dat

I'm actually doing this. It's no difference, as you can see there'so no real difference - eexcept audio files and start.dat neraly all files are the same.

You're absolutely right. I've looked in the file and figured out some pointers. But editing that can be really painful. I think somewhere it should be stored, why character names, titles are not doubled?

The guy was trying to translate jap. Disgaea 1 and ran into the same problem. He didn't make it out in the end, but maybe some comments are useful
