    Translation Progress, so far.

Just a heads up, so everyone knows how it's going:

I'll be working on this at least every friday for 2-4 hours.
(The current plan is doing it every mon/wed/fri for 2-4 hours, but i know i won't be able to do it all those days).

Current status: Dumping the Japanese text from eboot.elf into a .sjs file using MadEdit and JWPce, and using the first eboot.elf provided by Tidus as base, since i don't know exactly where are Tobster's translations and looking for them would actually make me waste more time. I'll use his work on the translation phase.

Dumping is actually the hardest part of the whole process, because it is mechanic and manual. Programming a way to get the text out is actually more time consuming than dumping by hand.

Translating it back again will be easy in comparison. I've stumbled upon a small problem: JWPce seems to be unable to read files (should have used notepad again... sigh) over ~100KB in size, so i'll have to strip the current dump file, which is 137KB in size to chunks of ~98KB. Also, the .jce extension used by default in JWPce has a lot of weird coding in it, so i'm having a little trouble splitting it up.

I'll post it here in case anyone can help divide the file, but even if no one can, i will just figure out a way (write a program to extract only the Japanese from the file) to get what i want.

After i'm done re-dumping it, i'll redo the translation, by myself this time. For that i'll do a rough translation based on JWPce dictionaries and my experience.

After it is done, i'll actually play the game in English (I've got it for 4 months now pretty much and never played it) to compare my translation with the official one.

Like i said before, it should be done by the end of the month.

    Question

Can someone upload the jap eboot or the translated one because the patcher says my eboot is modified so it cannot patch it.

    Here's the jap eboot: http://www.mediafire.com/?wg3xz89juyxbsjg

Are you sure you're using the the right version of Disgaea 4 (BLJS10095)?

Translation Status: Dump Complete (Been a week already, just didn't have the time to start trans./playing and to post it here).

I'll post it Monday or Tuesday, when i get back home, then i'll finally start playing the EN version of the game to get some context for the text i'll be translating.

After i'm done with it, i'll be posting the initial translation here, already using what Tobster and Tidus worked on. It's getting closer now, w00t. =)

Sorry for the constant delays, it makes me feel bad but i do what i can. I know how frustrating the wait for a translation can be, since i'm waiting for some myself.
