Can the PS3 Test aid in the following?

I have lots and lots of playstation in pieces and what not. I try to repair and learn things from the boards and playing around.

Can the PS3 test:

1. Diagnose exactly what is the cause of the YLOD problem and perhaps give some ideas to fix, rather then just heating the board up till too hot to touch, like I currently do though never seems to last more than a month.

2. Can it help also with the drive boards, as far as I know each drive board is mated with motherboard some how, I haven't been able to get other boards working on different motherboards, can the test tool re - pair the two boards?
