Hi friends, I was just wondering if there is anyone on here who knows about the DECRYPTION CODES for the filesystem which are stored in the uncopyable area of the disc (the first 20 sectors which are protected)
Also what information is held here, region codes, fw check, originality check?. Can anyone shed some light?
Not too bothered about the fw!!, looking for information as to why the sectors are so 'special'
and what information these sectors hold.
HackITandC,
It currently seems unlikely that we can _extract_ these special sectors from the PS3's BD-ROM drive with
the current firmware of the PS3
the current firmware of the BD-ROM drive
the current Hypervisor of the PS3
The reason being, we need to be able to send very low level ATA commands, which the Hypervisor currently rejects and does NOT pass on to the drive itself. A discussion of this has happened on Bluray decryption forums, where more detail about this is shared (i.e., how certain commands can be sent with PLSCSI DOS program)
