Post My little guide - hope it helps!

Here's a little guide i just created to help some people attempt to get this working.

*** setting up Simple DNS for capturing links and downloading games from your pc ***

things you need:
1. a webserver
2. simple dns (prefereably configured to bypass the store - see earlier posts)
3. ethereal

new entries for simple DNS (works for me, here in the US)
1. hit the records button
2. tools button > quick domain wizard
3. domain name = zeus.dl.playstation.net
4. web server ip = <the ip of your webserver>
5. clear out secondary DNS server
6. hit okay.

now you have simple dns setup to divert the downloads to your pc. all you need to do now is capture the download links with Ethereal.

1. log into the sony store
2. select the game you want find a link to (but don't hit the download button yet)
3. goto your pc, and run Ethereal to capture traffic on your nic card
4. go back to your ps3 and hit the download button (it will report an error, since the file isn't found on your pc - ignore this)
5. go back to your pc and stop the capture
6. looks for the packet with the link in it (See pic below for example of highlighted link packets)

now that you have the link, and know the file structure. you can recreate this file structure and then drop the full version into that folder, but rename it to the demo versions name (from the link you captured with ethereal).

now all you need to do is reconnect to the sony store, and re-attempt the download. if you did it right, it should find the file on your pc and install it on the ps3 (if the games run is another story.. they might be protected somehow)

edit: the reason i suggest you capture your own links is then you know you have the right ones for your region. if you know the links already posted are for your region you can skip all the Ethereall stuff.

Diverge--

not to say that what you just put together isn't important, as it certainly is, but what's the difference between users posting links as was done with Gripshift, BlastFactor and flOw, and what you described? if someone just posts the new links to the new demos / trailers / full versions, wouldn't that bypass having to do all that?

thanks for your help!!!

Blast Factor confirmed... WORKING!!!! It is not like a regular download, though... Should I post a guide? I'm downloading the file onto my PS3 right now... Yay! Or maybe not... this just means that Sony needs to do some update. Oh wait... it does download, it does install but it says that I cannot access the game with my account. Phew... and I thought I paid some bucks for nothing.

Oh never mind... I could play it because I bought it. But flOw doesn't work most definitely. It says you don't have access on your current account.

Well, follow the ettercap tutorial I wrote up, add in apollo.dl.playstation.net and zeus.dl.playstation.net to the etter.dns file (w/ A names to your pc's IP), then start a webserver, setup the proper folder structure w/ your PAK.

Ill admit, its not a very easy way to do, but it works for me (and you need a bit of previous knowledge!)

ahh.. ok so its like its like bypassing the Firmware check but you have to add those two A names, and then you need the proper file structure?

What would the correct file structure be for the Demos and the Full games?

and should I be using ettercap instead of simpleDNS?

No, Simpledns is much much much easier to use, stick with it + the other utility for the moment (at least until someone can translate it)

Windows Ettercap = horrible to say the least!

PKGs are not ZIP files. I tried WinRAR and it's a no-go, too.

well, sony just can't use different protection method for each game. probably the source of gripshift was good for our region while the other games were for other regions. what do you think ? and also the demo for blast factor and the full game have almost identical sizes, can part of the file be replaced with the demo or something ? too lazy to do it
