i have a problem when i try to sign in for psn for the first time . i connect my ps3 to internet through my ps3 proxy server which is connected to a adsl router . i made the firmware bypass thing work. i have a 1.50 ps3 but network system update tells me that i already have the latest fw which means i have bypassed the fw check . i can easily surf the net or read the online manuals on my ps3 but when it comes to signing in for the psn it keeps me giving this error : " a connection to the server could not be established " i have already forwarded the necessary ports for psn but no matter what i do i just can't sign in for psn . anybody have a solution out there ?

I had the same problem as you merenk. If i remeber correctly, i had the files from the wrong country replaced. So while the ps3 can do a FW check with any country, you can only sign in if you are bypassing with the proper files from your country.

So for me, as im in Australia, i used the link

http://fau01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/list/au/ps3-updatelist.txt

and then copied the text directly across to my ps3-updatelist.txt file, and then changed the fw version and image version to reflect;

ImageVersion=00000000;SystemSoftwareVersion=1.8100

What i suggest you do is use that same link but replace the bolded parts with your country code and then copy your own text file across. Most of the tutorials here are for us users. I hope this is right as its only what worked for me.

OK - Need help now please. UK - PAL - FW1.50. Went online with Motorstorm and had to download the latest update for the game to play online. Problem is now I am not even allowed to play the game (online or offline) without updating the FW on PS3. Once I delete the online update from the HDD then I can play offline once more but no online any suggestions?

thank you so much for being interested vendettaa. i think the region is not the problem here. my ps3 is hong-kong made and i live in europe. i use the updatelist.txt from south asia. because whem i try to (really i won't update just for learn which update server my ps3 tries to connect) it connects to

and i changed the txt found on south asia server it bypassed the fw check.. because when i try to network update it says me that i already have the latest fw but actually i'm on 1.50 . so everything is ok. i've been trying to sign up for psn for three days but always i enter sign up it says me to wait and after likely 20 seconds it gives me the same error: " a connection for a server could not be established."

is this because i have a slow connection because i use 256kbps adsl.. but i know there are others in my country who has the same speed as me and who can play motorstorm online without any lag. so it's not the speed problem neither. so what i'm gonna try now.. i don't know what to do ? do you have any more suggestions left ?

sorry merenk, i dont really know what to do then. I was tearing my hair out trying to get this working, and the above method worked for me though. I cant offer much else sorry. There are many more knowlagable people on here than me though, maybe someone else has a suggestion. Sorry mate

After reading this log thread. Am I correct in that my ps3 has to have a minimum fimware of 1.51 in order to access the playstation store. CORRECT? cause i still have my firmware at 1.10 and keep getting error when logging in to store. PLEASE confirm that i need to atleast upgrade to 1.51. Thanks !
