impalaman, your router setting is wrong. your router setting should be your router's IP address.

for example if your ip address is 192.168.1.101
then your router should be 192.168.1.1

then DNS should be set to your pc's ip address, in this case, 192.168.1.101

essentially your ps3 setting should look like this

192.168.1.102 <--- ps3's ip address
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
192.168.1.101 <--- pc's ip address

hope this helps.

however, you do not need to do all of the things again. all you gotta do is to change your PS3's DNS from 103 to 101 (as your pc changes IP).
I did this first off, and it gave me the stupid signed out of network with that error number. Maybe I have to restart my system, but I am using it now so I'll have to try tomorrow.

it depends on what program you use, if you use posadis, then you probably have to stop the service and then restart the program. if you use simple dns, restarting it would work.

i never successfully configured ettercap, so i cant comment on that.

please help with the setup on the ps3 part. again thanx

i typed in cmd in the cmand promt thing, then ipconfig my ip adress came up 192.168.0.102 supnet is 255 bla bla bla, and my default gate is 192.168.01, thats the pc info on that part, what i typed in on the ps3 part, on the ip adres i typed in 192.168.0.103 sub net 255 255 255 0 for the default router i typed in 192.168.0.1 for primary dns i typed in my pc's ip adress wich is 192168.0.102. so what ami doing wrong

192.168.0.103 ps3 part << right?
255.255.255.0
defualt router 192.168.0.1
primary dns 192.168.0.102 pc's part

First post here.. heh

well i set up a DNS server by following evilsperm's instructions using the software he suggested. works great, got it to work fine on my first attempt

then i went another step further and setup abyss webserver, and created the necessary folder structure along with the ps3-updatelist.txt file. that seems to be working too.

i also added the folder structure for the actual firmware update files. along with v1.1 and whatver version of firmware that this url leads to:
Code:
http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2007_0202_afd01d9c72b3b69c03a0206c45d87dda/PS3UPDAT.PUP
(if anyone can tell me what version it is, that would be cool )

well i was wondering now that everything is setup locally, if it was possible to trip the ps3 into updating the firmware with an older version by changing the version number in the ps3-updatelist.txt file to something higher then what is actually on your ps3, and then having it point to a lower version firmware that you have locally. Anyone try that already, if not, think it is possible?

First download ettercap for windows from here
( https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=17435&package_id=130431 )
I used ettercap-NG-0.7.2-win32.exe

Afterwards you install that you will need to download winpcap from ( http://www.winpcap.org/install/bin/WinPcap_4_0.exe )

after you get both those installed you need to replace the etter.dns with the one from ps3news

Now run ettercap
choose the tab that says sniff --> unified Sniffing
choose your network adapter and press ok

next go to the tab that says plugin -->manage plugins
select dns_spoofing (should be third on the list)

then under tab that says start
select start sniffing

then under hosts tab
scan for hosts

lastly go to Mitm --> Arp poisoining
Select one way poisoning

and you are set.

Works for me using windows xp with a laptop.
Im probably the only one who doesn't get this, but is this all you have to do or is there more? Do you have to do anything with your ps3? And where do i replace the etter.dns with the one from ps3news, where do i find the etter.dns?

That probably 1.52, judging by the date, we also have program here that will tell you, It's called something like firmware update unpacker 1.0. Also really don't try the downgrade there is so much going on assembly wise that it will tear up internal locations on the PS3. That's my bet.

Nat type 2 isn't necessarily a problem.

Press X once it displays that and then you should find you're able to pop online perfectly fine if you've set up your dns server correctly.
