Got it working, I tried the simpledns method and that worked. although I will give the proxy gui another go tomorow.

In the meantime I have signed up without a problem and downloading the GT demo too.

A big thank you to everyone who made this possible!!!

In the XMB goto the far left, then network settings. Everything you need to change is in there. And no it does not void your warranty.

Download 3r1cs proxy program m8, alot easier. Plug your PS3 and PC into the router, start the program and it tells you what proxy settings to put in the PS3. Once you have entered the settings clicked ok you should be set to go

I've tried every method under the sun. From what I gather using DNS method allows you to view shop but proxy method lets you download PKG file though network update, well so it seems as I cant access shop with proxy method as it says it needs updating. Am I doing this right?

Firmware Check Bypass - get online!!!

Boy have I had trouble getting this stuff to work! I ended up with PS3Proxy which came with no docs but ploughing through this forum I have figured it out. This is not a complete how to but this should help you figure it out. BTW I have a Japanese PS3 1.51 in UK and am accessing UK shop with my euro log in.

1) Get Ps3Proxy.exe put it in a folder somewhere you can find it again.
2) In that folder create a text file called ps3-update.txt with the line:
Code:
# UK
Dest=84;ImageVersion=00000000;SystemSoftwareVersion=0.00;CDN=http://fuk01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/list/us/ps3-updatelist.txt/;CDN_Timeout=30;
note: UK can be changed to your country code & http://fuk01.ps3.update.playstation.net likewise can be changed to the country of your choice. To determine these see below:
Code:
fus01.ps3.update.playstation.net
fjp01.ps3.update.playstation.net
feu01.ps3.update.playstation.net
fkr01.ps3.update.playstation.net
fuk01.ps3.update.playstation.net
fmx01.ps3.update.playstation.net
fau01.ps3.update.playstation.net
fsa01.ps3.update.playstation.net
ftw01.ps3.update.playstation.net
fru01.ps3.update.playstation.net
fcn01.ps3.update.playstation.net
3) In your pc's C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file add this (notice I have the UK ones at the top [not sure if this is necessary])
Code:
67.15.88.46	fuk01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	duk01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	fus01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	fjp01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	feu01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	fkr01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	fmx01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	fau01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	fsa01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	ftw01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	fru01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	fcn01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	djp01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	deu01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	dkr01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	dmx01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	dau01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	dsa01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	dtw01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	dru01.ps3.update.playstation.net
67.15.88.46	dcn01.ps3.update.playstation.net
! Make sure the ip address and site name are seperated by a tab not spaces.

Then run ps3proxy.exe and closely follow the instructions. Also when setting up the PS3 make all network settings Auto except for the PROXY which you manually enter. Play around with it and you will find out how. When you try to log into the store, watch the log window and see what is going on. My ps3 is Japanese I get the following when first accessing the Online Store:

GET http://fjp01.ps3.update.playstation....updatelist.txt HTTP/1.1
Host: fjp01.ps3.update.playstation.net
Proxy-Connection: Keep-Alive
Accept-Encoding: identity
User-Agent: PS3Update-agent/1.0.0 libhttp/1.0.0

OK I hope that gets you closer to getting it to work. I may not have it 100% correct but it works, GT HD v2 downloading from UK store as we speak.

I am assuming you followed the LINUX tutorial? "etc" is for linux, use one of the Windows tutorials!

Thanks Eggblahhh, and squareeyesi managed to fix it with PS3 Proxy and the hosts thing that was on squareeyes' post. Downloading GT Concept right this minute.

My only question is this though, does PS3 Proxy have to be running all the time for me to be doing this? Or can i clasoe the app and i can still connect?

Thanks
