PS3 Test kit not updating

I have a PS3 test kit model DECHA00A with firmware 1.90 on it. For some reason it doesn't recognize the 2.52 firmware upgrade from either an SD card or a USB stick and I am not sure how to update it now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I downloaded the 2.52 pup file and threw it on an SD card but my PS3 test kit does not recognize any update file. Can the test kits not be updated from an SD card?

A very dumb question - but two fold.

One, is it in the proper directory? (/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP)

Two, if it is, try an intermediate firmware first (say 2.15) or so, and let us know how it goes.

It was a horridly stupid question. I had gotten the thing from a friend well over a year ago and never really used it so had no idea I had to have that folder path. Thanks for the info. It installed fine and works great. Thanks again.

Hi, my test unit won't update from the disk. Do I need to install the debug firmware or software epk?

Correct test units will not update from a retail disc.. but there are plenty of updates for your console HERE in the download section.
