Playing PS2/PS3 backups on a TEST PS3

Well that, Sony's BRDGen/PS3Gen app, plus the knowledge to read, understand, and debug code- know what to patch, where, and the number of occurrences for each game (they all differ) and so on.

It took CJPC and all of the PS3 Devs helping him a few months to get it all sorted before they got backups running, as Sony (naturally) doesn't provide any documentation on doing it HEHE.

Sadly, even having all the files is about as useful as just having a PS3 Debug... none are of any use unless you literally know what to do with everything.

So then what is so good about having a PS3 TEST unit

1- cant get updated FW so cant play the new games
2- cant play backup PS3 games unless you know how to hack

All you can do is play PS2 backups using a master patch and play some PS3 games

Believe me, you aren't alone. Most people who get one find it out and sell theirs (at least to make a profit in most cases). However, this is exactly why I myself never bothered getting a PS3 Debug.

I have had several opportunities to buy one, reasonably priced too... but since I refuse to waste the time going through the lengthy process to get a back-up running on one (even with CJPC helping me) I never bothered.

i have tested and the xor app work well (just chose if the game is a dvd or cd support and chose MASTER to patch, region is not matter for a PS3 TEST but i dont know for PS2 TEST)

just some games cant patch

i have also test with swap magic dvd iso and it's not possible to make master (just for test)

so is it the same method to run backups from a disc, as it is to run them from the hdd?

ive been exploring my test every now & then, and if it wasnt for the price I paid, i'd get rid of it. now that ever launch date can run ps2 games from the external hdd, it almost seems pointless to own one (I'm b.s.ing, I love the bragging rights).

hopefully someone can shine a little light on the subject, so we can take advantage of our test units.

PS3 TEST doesn't offer to connect to public PSN servers but I can't say it is impossible to play online with a PS2 game. I didn't try network features of PS2 games within PS3 TEST.

Well, I have not tried PS2 games (although they should work), PS3 games on a PS3 TEST can connect, and play online!

Since this is a thread about PS2 games, I assume you mean PS2 games. No, you can not run PS2 games from the PS3 HDD (at least not yet), however I suppose you could use the newly released methods and get them running from a USB hdd.

actually I was talking about PS3, the BIG PS2 question was answered expediently (lol). good to see you on my post cjpc, I think I speak for alot of the test owners when I say : " please o great one, bless us with a ps3 test back up tutorial" if its possible could you make it end user friendly, but only if you have time.

Hey there (sorry for my bad englisch)

i got a ps3 debug/test console on sunday. My original import games (psx and ps2) working well on the dubug ps3 system. But i have a little question. How much did this debugging/test ps3 consoles costs? I got mine for 300$ (i think i´m a lucky one)
