Question Playing PS2/PS3 backups on a TEST PS3

hey,

i have a real quick question. it dawned on me after the whole usbadvanced discovery, "hey i have a test machine i can play ps2 backups without all the hassle". Well i was wrong (duh), i tried a psx backup game & it works perfectly.
my question is: Is there a simple method to play ps2 backups on a test ps3?

i have a few that are patched, & some that are not, but i figure its a burning method that will allow it to work.

I honestly suggest you read the articles here: http://www.ps3news.com/category/PS3-Dev , specifically the ones that I posted.

Short answer - they can play retail copies (which, we broke the news on ages ago), but its not like a 1:1 copy, it is a quite involved process!

Development disks are quite different, so those are able to do a 1:1 copy upon!

Yeh belive me I have gone through ALL your posts (although not in great detail), just the ones that were touching on this topic. That is where I picked up the term "BRD Generator", which you have now explained to me and I have also dl it.

I understand that a 1:1 can not be done, this is why I emailed you as I would love to do it, even if it means a long winded procedure. please help mate if you get any spare time by creating a step by step noobs guide.

Can I use Lite-ON DH-401S to get the PS3 games on to my pc instead of having it dumped on the hdd and then transfered over to the PC?

Thanks mate

I have a quick question once ps3 game is dumped or an iso then do you still need to have (c) sony software to make backups?

Correct, the actual dumping can be done in Linux, SAK, or if you own a Lite-On DH-401S drive. The Sony files are required to determine what needs patching and to do the patching so that the backups run from the HDD, SD Card, etc on Debug units.
