These questions were asked a few pages back, but to reiterate once again:

You need a higher Debug Firmware to update than your Retail PS3 Firmware... so if your Retail PS3 is on 2.35 then you would need 2.40 Debug and so on. From what I understand, it wouldn't be too difficult for Sony to block this in future updates, however, there really is no point in installing Debug Firmware as it's just the extra "menu options" pictured earlier in this thread.

You can't actually use any of the Debug options on a Retail PS3 even when you have it installed, so until the Devs find a way (if ever) to get the Debug options functioning I'd stick with Retail PS3 Firmware since it has Blu-ray movie playback, etc.

is it possible to downgrader with this method? firmware 2.15 this burden entirely on a ps3 2.30, if I run the same manipulation but with the 2.35 then I swap to move to 2.15 is what it will work?

That has already been addressed too... do you people not read before posting?

No, you can't downgrade using this HDD Swap method... the PS3 Devs already tried and receive the error with and without spoofing the version.

Until some new PS3 Dev progress happens, it's best not to keep asking the same redundant questions here, as they are all answered already.

No not so strange. 2.15 and 2.20 have higher ImageVersion than 2.30 (lot higher). Also they have same ImageVersion, why I do not know.

I also noticed that along with the fact that 2.15 contains 5 files and 2.20 contains 6. Which the higher ImageVersion (as you called it) in turn makes it even more scary for anyone without an infectus to upgrade to the debug FW 2.15 as there would be no turning back unless Sony's next retail FW had a higher Imageversion (as you called it). With it being so high I don't see why it would not pass the check and install on a 2.35 PS if a newer FW (e.g. v2.40) was released using the hdd swap method.

Back in the day with the xbox1 i used norton ghost at one point to do some stuff, and yes theres an option in ghost to make a bootable floopy and you can use ghost in dos in RAW mode, with some options like ghost -r or whatever it was (google is your friend) and even though the xbox image was larger than 4gb lets say 8gb for the original disks it worked because it made it in parts the image or something like that, i dont recall really, but should work with ghost, even with the ps3 partition, cause the raw mode can see them.

Agreed, Ghost is very specific. In fact, correct me if I am wrong, but Ghost can even copy over bad sectors to another drive. The drive you copy it to just thinks it has bad sectors, even if it may not originally have any. So I am pretty sure it'll catch everything on that drive, even if it does have a proprietary format.

I guess you can't edit messages.... but

I mean why would Ghost even care what is on the drive? it just copies the sectors, the 0's and 1's, it doesn't give a crap if you got porn on it or whatever else. Its not like it has to create that proprietary partition, because its a 1:1 copy, anything on Drive A will be copied to Drive B. From files to bad sectors and whatever else, it will be an exact replica.

yes ghost can pretty much do anything, but i find the windows app hard sometimes to understand or work, the boot disk is very easy and simple to use maybe someone should make a howto with ghost and download links on how to do this swap trick with only one HD. Most of us, i guess the majority only have 1 ps3 to try on and the method maya mentions its pretty good.
