Debug Firmware on Retail PS3

Alright, so I am fairly new here and I have been hunting through this forum. I saw in the downloads that the firmware can't be installed on a retail PS3. But http://www.ps3news.com/forums/playst...tml#post255826 here you can see some one has, can some one explain to me if the downloads are marked wrong or not?

Also what are the risks of going to a debugged firmware from the retail one? I already know that you can't play Bluray movies..and I really don't care about them...and also I have the latest firmware update would there be any issues with installing a debug one with it?

What the downloads say is true if you try installing it normally. Since then, an alternate method was discovered by XVISTAMAN2005 HERE (also there are guides on doing it HERE and HERE) but it still doesn't function.

In short, using the alternate install method you can view the debugging PS3 menu options, however, they are unusable/inoperable on Retail PS3 consoles so basically useless anyway.

Oh now that sucks, thanks a bunch buddy, any idea where I could get my hands on a test PS3 that is around the same price as a retail one? I had first tried to get a test one, but never found one and didn't want to try Ebay.

you will probably not find any test's for the same price as a retail unit how ever they have gotten a bit cheeper in the last few months.. there is one for sale on eaby right now and the bidding is at around 500 usd, this is probably your only option right now.
