Scared of bricking my rebug console

Hi,

I've read that you have to be careful whilst using the rebug selector because it can brick your console? I wouldn't class myself as a "noob" but I don't understand, how would it get bricked? what would I have to do?

I don't switch no more, but I switched once, because one of the rebug modes there's no media server which is quite odd.

What should I be careful with, I'm really paronoid of bricking my console? I'm also upgrading my HDD on my 60gb fat, should I be informed of anything?

AFAIR media server is possible, but you have to enable it after every reboot though.
