If I have a virgin ps3 slim 25xx with OFW 3.40 can I use this or do I have to get CFW 3.55 before I can use the Rogero 4.30 CFW.

I found the reason why it wont work for any firmware above 3.55. Its got 3.55 files or its signed with 3.55.

I tried to install this on my 2nd PS3 which is at 4.30 OFW and it came up with a message "This PS3 can only install over 3.72 firmware" Or something like that but more words.

So if you got a semi new PS3 then your SOL as you cant downgrade or install CFW.

I recommend that you stick with 3.55 for now and you have to be on 3.55 OFW/ CFW to upgrade to 4.30 CFW but as a precautionary measure stick with 3.55 as this is the most safest and brick free CFW option you will have.

plus, with the coming days, better custom firmwares might be coming out. ones that are easier to use, nearly no possibility of bricks, more features, etc.

i mean, most games have been fixed that are wanted. i've wanted sorcery for a while, but i can definitely wait.

Am I right in decoding all of this that if I have a 4.25 OFW slim (cech-3000 and a fat cecha) then I cannot just simply load the CFW onto it, I need to downgrade to 3.55 first (using hw flasher only, progskeet, e3 or similar?) Why is it not possible to simply just install a 4.30 cfw onto a 4.25 ofw? I don't get it. What could go wrong? Or the machine would not allow it?

You should flash kmeaw 3.55 first from recovery and then enable QAflag. After that you can flash rogero's 4.30 from recovery safely.

I tried it today myself on a cechk03 fat with rogero's cfw 4.21 V1.09 (QAflag already enabled from before) like this:

Flash 4.25to3.55 downgrade pup from recovery->Flash 3.55 kmeaw from recovery->Flash rogero's 4.30 from recovery.

I think it's pretty safe now and the risk of bricking is minimal if you follow the instructions carefully. Just make sure you're QA flagged and have dehashed by installing Kmeaw 3.55 before flashing a new firmware.

i have a kmeaw 3.55.2 (does it make any diff on the .2?) so you mean i can simply toggle QA flagged follow by dehash and i can flash rogero's 4.3 direct? possible to go back to kmeaw 3.55.2 as well?
