Today Chinese PlayStation 3 developer Hotz8611 has updated the PSN exdata license reactivation tool ReActPSN to version 2.0 for PS3 CFW users with a patched VSH.Self file and backup samples included alongside a guide on running full PlayStation Network games below.

To quote: ReActPSN v2.0 - First OFFLINE PSN license generator.
    • Backup license without any private information.
    • Power on PS3, Running of all PSN contents same as official activation.
    • ReActPSNv 2.0 must needs an 8byte patch for vsh.self.
    • Compatible with reActPSN v1.11.

Be sure to check out the ongoing ReActPSN Game Releases for PS3 CFW All in One Place thread as well.

Working on PlayStation 3 CFW 3.41 & CFW 3.55, 256MB NAND ROM model no tested!

    Maybe not work on:
    • 256M NAND FlashRom consoles(no tested),
    • OtherOS++ (this CFW seems does not support PSN game activation)
    • Virgin PSN console with cfw3.55K (Never login PSN before, error 80010601. please upgrade it to Rebug3.55)

This tool only reactivates reActPSN1.10 or later version backup's exdata.

    Backup location: dev_usb000/reActPSN/BK00xx, act.dat act.key xx.rif, private data backup. Don't share it.
Backup location: dev_usb000(1)/reActPSN/pubPSN/exdata, only xx.edat and xx.rap(16B), without any private information.

    This tool has 8 functions.

    1. Create new user aa, copy exdata folder (xx.edat xx.rap or any subfolders with v1.10 v2.0 backup) to dev_usb000 or dev_usb001 root. Run it, it will regenerate license from usb exdata to /dev_hdd0/home/0000000x(aa user)/, And rename aa user name to "reActPSN 2.0 xx.rif xx.edat",when finished then auto reboot.

    2. Run it and keep pressed BUTTON_CIRCLE about 6s, it does make a forced full backup to dev_usb000/reActPSN/BKxxxx. xx.edat xx.rap also backup to dev_usb000(1)/reActPSN/pubPSN/exdata folder.

    3. Run it and keep pressed BUTTON_L1 about 6s, it does make a forced license generation from dev_usb000(1)/exdata to user "reActPSN 2.0 xx"

    4. Run it and keep pressed BUTTON_L2 about 6s, xx.edat xx.rap also backup to dev_usb000(1)/reActPSN/pubPSN/exdata folder.

    5. Run it and keep pressed BUTTON_R1 about 6s, it does make a forced full backup to dev_usb000/reActPSN/BKxxxx. xx.edat xx.rap also backup to dev_usb000(1)/reActPSN/pubPSN/exdata folder. Same as function 2.

    6. Run it and keep pressed BUTTON_R2 about 6s, it does make a lv2 dump to /dev_usb000/dump.bin

    7. Run it once time when you log in yourself or replayGamesN_Cyyyy user account, it will reactivate yourself or all same yyyy users license. don't use this function again. But it also restores act.dat from act1.dat.

    8. Run it, you can't login PSN again. All important information send to PSN is random! (Faked ID)

Note: Your PS3 USB drive must be from the right slot (not left) and any USB must be unplugged, only USB drive from the right. From gambaa:
    • Extract vsh.elf and use the one designated for your CFW or patch your own vsh.elf for your CFW. Once Again I recommend using Rebug for this so use the 3 files in 3.55.2.

Note: If you have any other CFW other than the one provided, or your OWN CFW than you've got to patch your CFW.
    • Now, for the Rebug users, you've got to put your console into NORMAL mode first. Now, go download the latest Rebug Selector if you haven't already. Open your console, go to Rebug Selector, change your console to MODE: NORMAL - XMB: DEBUG. After, restart your console.
    • Now connect your usb drive on the far right slot either usb_000 or usb_001.
    • Next open exdata.rar -> exdata, extract that one exdata folder into whatever USB Stick or HDD you use on your console. (so it looks like exdata/files and NOT exdata/psn146/exdata)
    • Now extract ReActPSN2.0.pkg and install onto your ps3.
    • Use MULTIMAN to write vsh.elf to dev_blind via file manager. You will need to enable write acces to /dev_flash at the bottom in settings.
    • Once enabled go to /dev_blind/vsh/module and copy over the 3 vsh.elf files
    • After done copy return to settings and disable write access to dev_flash. (overwrite)
    • Restart the console.
    • Run ReActPSN and hold R1 during the restart process should only take about 5 seconds. (Holding R1 will make a ReActPSN folder on the base of your usb drive with 2 folders in it "BK0001" and "pubPSN")
    • The BK0001 folder contains a backup of all the users on the system. The pubPSN folder contains all of the .rif and act.dat on the system converted into .rap/.edat format. The pubPSN folder is the one we are wanting.
    • Copy the exdata folder in pubPSN to the base of your USB drive. So it should looks like this in a File browser/manager "usb drive"/exdata/".rap files"
    • Make a new user, name it ''aa'' (without quotations)
    • Run ReActPSN again *do not push anything this time (it will rename user "aa" to reActPSN v2.0 xrif xedat )
    • When it's done (won't take long) it'll restart your console.
    • You'll notice aa has been renamed to something longer.
    • That's it. You are DONE
    • If you want to add more content to the account at a later time just add the .rap files to the exdata folder you copied earlier rename the user back to "aa" and run reActPSN again. Then just install the content you are wanting to add.

Note: You need your act.dat tied to the .rif to create valid .rap.

TUT for how to run full PSN games:

    1. Install reActPSN v2.00
    2. Run it and keep pressed BUTTON_R1 about 6s, make a forced full backup to dev_usb000/reActPSN/BKxxxx. Backup xx.edat xx.rap to dev_usb000/reActPSN/pubPSN/exdata folder.
    3. Download vsh.self patched package, patch your CFW.
    3. Import license from exdata folder. Copy exdata folder to USB media root, inserted it to dev_usb000 or dev_usb001 port. Create a new ps3 account aa. Run reActPSN, auto reboot.
    4. Delete all replayGamesN_Cyyyy(v1.1x generation) user account.
    5. Enjoy official PSN games now, Run PSN games.

Patched vsh.self for reActPSN 2.0 package, all tested working very well. Patch to allow verify unsigned act.dat and *.rif files for reActPSN. Files must be replaced in /dev_blind/vsh/module/ using either FTP or file manager.
    • Copy this package to USB media.
    • Run dev_blind
    • Choice patched vsh.self for your cfw (cfw Rebug has 3 files)
    • Copy vsh.self to /dev_blind/vsh/module/vsh.self (overwrite!)
    • Reboot

Note: Rebug has 3 vsh.self files: vsh.self vsh.self.cexsp vsh.self.swp your must run rebug_selector or reflash rebug cfw, make sure vsh.self are their original name.

How to turn PSN demos into full game:

    1) exdata have to be located on:
    USB000\exdata\*.*

!! beware of making it !!
USB000\exdata\pubPSN146\exdata\*.* – it´s not gonna work this way!

    2) if you never been on PSN before with your KMEAW, don´t even bother trying this, it won´t work for you guys. You´ll have to install Rebug 3.55.2 + update 4 to succeed.

    3) update to rebug 3.55.2 and install and run update 4.pkg (can be found at [Register or Login to view links]). You don´t have to install OFW, just install rebug over kmeaw.

    4) copy reActPSN v2.00.pkg on your usb stick and install it.

    5) run reActPSN v 2.00 with holding R1 button for 6 seconds (=IMPORTANT). It´s gonna change some stuff and dump some files onto USB stick, make sure u have at least 2 megs free on the stick.

    6) start LATEST multiman (in my case 2.08.00), make sure you are online before start, you´ll have to connect through FTP

    7) go to settings -> write acces to /dev_flash -> enable

    8) start File Manager in multiman, that will, for sure, start FTP server and you can see the IP there

    9) connect to your ps3 IP (I recommend filezilla portable) using login/pass: AAAA11111/root

    10) copy the correct vsh.self (according your FW… in case of Rebug, there are 3 files !!!) to dev_blind\vsh\module\

    11) restart the console – if red screen appears, you have to reinstall the cfw through recovery menu – if not, you´re got to go to another step

    12) create user called aa

    13) if you took out the USB stick, stick it into your ps3 again (you´ll use the exdata folder on USB stick now)

    14) run reActPSN v 2.00 again without holding anything – the software will copy exdata into the system

    15) the aa profile renames reActPSN v2.0 xxxrif xxedat, DON´T USE THAT PROFILE, USE YOUR OWN, BUT LEAVE IT THERE OTHERWISE YOU´LL LOSE THE OPTION TO UNLOCK DEMOS

    16) that´s it… you can download some game from downloadlink.txt that is in exdata folder, those games should work ok.

    Few tips at the end:

    a) if you browse through exdata folder, there you can see which games are affected (unlocked) by this modification. You can search each of them in google. When the result will be in Chinese, simply use google translator..

Then you can go to blackotoos demoversions thread (ps3iso.com/showthread.php?t=43238), I tested myself one of those games and the demoversion unlocked itself to full version.

    b) For GODS SAKE make sure you enable the option to write into dev_flash !!! I had probs with that first time…

    c) if you are using kmeaw and see the red screen after starting up the PS3, don´t panic and follow those steps:

1: Plug a USB stick into your computer
2: Copy the custom firmware file that you downloaded to a USB memory
    stick as /PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
3: Plug the USB stick into your PS3
4: Power down the PS3 through the menu
5: Now press and HOLD the power button, the system will startup and shutdown again
6: Release the power button, then press & HOLD power again,
you’ll hear one beep followed by two consecutive beeps
7: Release power then follow the on-screen instructions. You’re now in the recovery menu
8: Connect the USB device and select “System Update.”
9: Accept Conditions and Follow the instructions

Below are some videos from [Register or Login to view links] demonstrating four official PS3 dynamic themes compatible with ReActPSN v2.0.

To quote: However, you’ll need the RAP and EDAT files to get it all working (not provided). A short tutorial is available below.

    inFamous: Festival of Blood:

    Sonic 4 Episode 1:

    LittleBigPlanet:

    The Force Unleashed 2:

    Installation:
    • PKGs = Install from “Install Package Files” on XMB.
    • EDATs = install in hdd0/theme folder on internal ps3 hdd.
    • RAPs = need to be in folder called “exdata” on root of thumb drive. run reActPSN to activate themes. Dont forget to rename profile to aa before each use.

Note: themes will show as corrupt until you run reactpsn with the required raps. Cheers to tmasPS3 for the videos and tutorial!

What's the difference of this application with all of the re-activation tools that is available today?

Does it permanently activate your backup PSN content? What's that vsh.self do for and why do I need it?

Sorry, I can't catch what it said on the 1st post.

That makes two of us Perhaps the other tools don't support the patched VSH.Self file that ReActPSN v2.0 now does? If anyone knows, feel free to reply and I will +Rep ya!

My only theory on this one is that modified vsh.self will do the backing up PSN contents without leaking out your private information. If that's what it do, then I don't need it. It's not like i'm going to leak it anyway.

According to what others are saying, this also allows activation of games you haven't previously bought. Haven't tried it myself, though.

I could see this allowing un-bought content... until Sony checks your PS3 and account and realizes that you haven't bought any content.

so if i lost my legit 'act.dat' for my bought dlc and games will this reactivate them again? because i have been trying to find a way to get it back without risking my ps3 being banned. i didn't know that if you swap hdds in a ps3 you lose the 'act.dat' forever and i keep kicking myself because of it.

i want to play my zombie maps in COD: WAW with my friends and i can't... i have all the rif files and everything for them but not the act.dat

Well as you'll be on 3.55CFW and you cant get online then how can Sony see what you got on your console and what your playing? They cant.

I only have a slim so this wont work on that will it? Isn't the slim the 256mb nand?

I have ReActPSN v1.1 slim version and it works but you have to run it after every reboot. Is this the same? I want to install a theme that is paid for and needs it working on reboot or it goes back to default waves.

Only the early PS3 Phat consoles contained a NAND. All slim consoles contain a NOR chip.
