The backup should work as long as the game and the patch are the same version.

So I revert back to 3.55 Kmeaw then install the Patched Update of UMVC3 BLUS version. Then play the UMVC3 backup with a dongle eboot BLUS version (did not back up the original Eboot coz of my dumb friend) and it would work flawlessly? Got it.

Wow that is good news because there are some of my backup games that my friend failed to backup the original eboots like asuras wrath and arkham city. probably when I get back to my home country I will be able to try this. Thanks a lot!!!

You must have done it wrong, It worked for me.

1/ well what i did was FTP over the USA release
2/ changed param.sfo file with BLES01467
3/ installed the updated and fix repack of leatherface
4/ multiman select game X. game looks like it starts up, i get the 3D warning and then blackscreen and ps3 locks up

i delete the game data and when i install the patch 1.03 and start the game it ask do you want to update to 4.00

any solution please?

Change back the param.sfo file to BLUS30521 because this fix is for the USA version, not the EUR version.

1) installed 1.00 N0DRM (replace manually all file in your backup)
2) install pkg 1.02
3) insert bd and play

Look at param.sfo to see if the resolution boxes are unchecked. I was messing around with UMVC3 a while back and was having that problem.
