Which exact directory did you replace the the eboot and PARAM.SFO ? Not the usb hard drive, right ? It could also be caused by a hard drive structure error.
just tested on 3.41 and the game and had problems...
SSX.EBOOT.PATCH.100.REPACK.USA.PS3-N0DRM
I applied just the repack fix (no updates installed) but the game stucks on the same point
SSX.EBOOT.PATCH.102.EUR.PS3-N0DRM
I cannot find official update 1.02, in order to apply the patch... maybe that's the problem ?
SSX.EBOOT.PATCH.103.USA.PS3-N0DRM
I installed official update 1.03 and replaced files from patch in hdd0/game/blus30849 , but when I launch the game it asks me to update to 4.11... maybe the update needs repacking?
also from BNDVS ps3 asura's wrath patch 1.02 + fix for 3.55 (with the patch work all DLC for asura's wrath BLUS30721)
when i check if update is ok says must update to 4.10 so bd rom reset then remove external drive put the eboot and param files in folder where they go i replace and then get unsupported data when try to run game
if you read the nfo you will see tells you where to download the update from

So there is your problem, you replaced the eboot in the wrong directory. Your supposed to replace eboot and param.sfo in the /dev_hdd0/game/BLES01437 directory on your internal hard drive not external usb.
