first you need to find out if you can hack your version of the ps3. by using this File to "Update" your ps3. its located on this website here: http://www.ps3news.com/forums/ps3-gu...hk-120995.html to see if you can downgrade to 3.40 or 3.55.
you need to get a downgrade dongle and a hardware flasher like e3, progskeet etc. then you NEED to Back up your flash and maker sure its a valid dump. before you make a copy of it to patch back on it. then you need to get some files for the downgrader dongle for it to work.

you dont need an idiots guide, you need a hardware flasher and a genius. you cant install cfw on ofw above 3.55 without a flasher and they are not for idiots.
I didn't try it as my PS3 is on 1.10 and I don't play PS3 games with it at all these days, but FYI a new version is incoming for those who wish to check it out, etc

Following up on his previous release, this weekend PlayStation 3 developer HDMadness has updated PS3 ErmaC 4.30 CFW to version 1.3 which now includes a completely fixed Demo Mode and more as outlined below!
More Stable than any other 4.30 CFW out there (Tested with numerous PS3, slim and phat models)
Can run games with the latest updates signed with Keys up to 4.30 without any patching needed

Cinavia protection disabled
No "Demo Mode", XMB fully optimized so you can have the best performance with your console
Changes since 1.2:

You need to be on 3.55 ofw or cfw to install ErmaC CFW. Please downgrade using the proper procedures (999 downgrader from Rebug team is the best option) and after downgrading please install and run 'toggle_qa.pkg' on your PS3 before upgrading again to the new version.
Use exactly the same precautions on upgrading/downgrading used on other CFWs to avoid any complication. Enjoy!

does anyone know if this fixes the 'grouping' problem on xmb, i mean when you use square to put all files in a folder on rogeros version it would ungroup them every time you reboot
