    They're not completely "vital" but, personally I would be happy with this, yet most people now adays aren't satisfied until they have a CFW that does everything. Which then only puts it down.

    Yes, but only with hardware flasher like infectus 2, progskeet, teensy2++, or dual boot with e3. The flasher depends from your ps3. Is it phat or slim?

    It actually depends on whether your PS3 has a Nor or NAND chip.

    i've got the fat ps3 i bought the infectus chip ages ago but i couldnt really solder it coz there was no instructions with it for my version of ps3. i have it just sitting there lol i've herd there a new one out progskeet would that so the job ? or is there any way i can get my hand on instruction on how to install infectus ?

    there is a diagram here somewhere, just use the search for infectus downgrade and you should find it.. not sure if its what you need but you can search for infectus ps3 installation or something also.. good luck
