had a good play of it last night, did a few levels.. its definitely one for those who had played the original Duke Nukem 3D. So many quotes from that, remakes of old music and hes just so full of himself haha plus I see why it gets a 18+ rating.
The odd thing was though, near the start - after the first battle - Duke's holding a controller for his own video game, and it resembles an Xbox 360 controller skinned with himself etc. This was wierd seeing it on a PS3 game.
Other things to add - this game needs anti-aliasing turned on.. jagged edges everywhere. That being said - I loved every minute of it, and wished I could've played it all night. (True Duke 3D fan!)
Did some background reading on the development of this game (being a fan of the original DOS Duke games), and I was shocked to know that Gearbox had less than a year (roughly?) to port this to consoles. Seems to be using the Doom 3 engine, which is why it reminded me of Prey. Here's a link I found (for those that are interested):
I mean, kudos to Gearbox and 3D Realms for not letting it die - I just wish it were more polished (jaggies and load times are horrible). Overall, I do enjoy the game though, many chuckle moments like the turd burglar, and the over-supportive soldier at the whiteboard.
