Can BRDGen be used for splitting episodic BD onto DVD?

I have Planet Earth four on Blu-Ray Discs and I am always finding them loose in the multi-disc case. Even though I don't have a BD burner, I'd like to make working backups and maintain the extras and menus by splitting them up on DVD9 discs (DVD+R DL discs). There are four episodes on each 25GB disc, so they should easily fit when split. Can BRDGen do this by "linking" the other episodes to the same episode and making four DVD ISOs for each BD ISO?

Even then, what about playback? I know that Blu-Ray has a different format for home-authored BD movies known as "BDAV" and it probably lacks all the interactive menus and such. One major difference is that every single manufactured BD disc must use AACS encryption, copyrighted or not. This leads me to believe that BDAV could easily be limited in bandwidth/bitrate and other ways that would make the rip incompatible. I'd imagine that just like the PS3 and PSP limit AVC resolutions and bitrates when not playing from their protected formats, the PS3 would likely not playback BD rips on DVD,

So, is this possible or am I just dreaming?

I doubt it would be possible. BRDGen was coded to simply create an image of the correct format for Blu-Ray. It does not circumvent any of it's protection.

Thanks. AnyDVD HD removed the encryption, but doing something with the results is where I'm stuck. It seems that my P43.2GHz system with 2GB memory just can't cut it when it comes to playback! I'll let you know if I ever get it to work or anything.

With what ever you are using for playback, you need to make sure you are in fact using hardware acceleration.

As far as I know, you cannot put HD content on a DVD format and play it back in HD, the file converter will downsize it to 720x480p, you can put in on an external HDD and transfer it to your PS3 hdd, but then you wouldn't have surround sound.
