How work ps2 network card ?

Hi everyone,

I have a newbie question lol.

I have a laptop and a ps2 with a network card.
First, Setting up IP is not a problem for me.

My problem is the following , when i setup my ps2's network card it seem this adaptater is only active when it goes online.
I mean if i play in local a game and from my laptop i ping the ip of my ps2, i have no answer.

How can i do to make this adaptater ALWAYS working.

Booting something special (like a boot disc ...)

as far as i know there there is know way to permenantly activate the networkcard of the ps2. why do u need the ps2 nic connected permenantly anyway

ya there is no point.. and wen ur ps2 goes online don't u noticed more noisE? that's cause it's hot and it waste electricty heh ^^

...yeah only active when some program is using it...
but i couldnt understand .. why u need it keep working all the time?

as i know.
the only way is install the PS2 Linux pack.... it will working all the time.. but u can't launch PS2 GameDisc under PS2 Linux OS...

i'm a coder may be you know, if i can see the ps2 from my laptop when i'm playing a game i can also scan for example some stuff like its memory....
