Launch Code breaker through ps2 hdd?

I own pre moded fat PS2, Network adaptor and 80 GB Segate Baracuda HDD.

I do not know the make of mode chip but it dosent support any devolution mode. PS2 laser is almost dead. I want to know how can i launch codebreaker 9.2 through HDD. I have codebreaker 9.2. and i use HD Advance.

Actually there is a CB v9.3 which is made for the hdd, but you still need an mc exploit with ulaunchelf on it to load the CB v9.3 from the hdd, unless the modchip has dev mode on it and as you mentioned your does not.

This CB v9.3 once loaded can even load games from the hdd with the cheats working, but if you have ulaunchelf installed on your mc it will go back to ulaunchelf and if you have HD Advance also install on you mc you can just load the hdd up with HD Advance with ulaunchelf and choose the game you have the cheats for and play away, also ulaunchelf can also load your HD Advance from a disc.

I use the mc exploit with ulaunchelf and HD Advance with CB v9.3 on the hdd which i have to use a original ps1 game to trigger ulaunchelf on my mc, and i can use a backup game also for the trigger disc as if a ps2 is modded like mine is and yours too, you can use backups as the trigger disc as it works very well, also with ulaunchelf on your mc you can launch HD Advance in it's elf state from a usb flash drive also, and the elf file for HD Advance can be downloaded from the PS2 HDD Navigation List Sticky and can be downloaded here.

There are threads with info on mc exploits in this section just search and if you have any problems just post.

There is a complete solution for your system once that you can do before the laser completely dies.

First thing I suggest is to install Free MC Boot. This is the only exploit that will work without any trigger disc. this way you will have a 'Dev mode' that you can use to boot homebrew from your MC such as LaunchELF.

You also need to patch your codebreaker 9.3 with a specific patch from ffgriever that will allow you to boot HDA directly from codebreaker instead of a disc. there are few known versions of 9.3 that can be patched and they have to have specific MD5 checksums. The non-Gamestop version can be ripped from your retail disc and patched.

Once this is done, it would be easier to launch Codebreaker from your USB stick from the OSDSYS menu (outer sony broswser with menu) via FMCB. Your HDA would be renamed CB_launch.elf and placed in hdd0:/__boot/ as that is the first place the patched codebreaker will look for it in.

but once that stuff is taken care of, your laser can crap out and you'll never miss it until you come across a game that isn't compatible with HDA.
