HD Advance from the HDD?

Hey, I had put the image file onto my PS2 HDD via PS2 Handiness, then I booted up HDA (Version 1.00, USA) and selected "HardDriveAdvance" from the menu. It then brought me to the new HDA screen with the bigger game list, ect. The problem is that my games don't work....tried Need for Speed Underground: 2, but it just went black. Do I have to readjust those new "compadibility" things, or will this just plain not work?

lol!!! just get the ELF file and copy it to ur hdd (leav'n free space on ur memcard )

then u can do the exploit and boot up launchelf and boot the new hda from there! heh saves space and fast

Create a partition using the DMS HDD format tool and then mount the partition in execftps (I think the command is site mnt /pfs/0/ hdd:nameofthepartition), then either create a folder or put the HDA elf file in the root of the partition. Then using keylauncher, or whatever other launcher you prefer that has HDD support, run the HDA elf file. I run mine with keylauncher, and it works just fine for me.

I forgot to mention that I do not have a mod chip and/or the swap magic discs....is that a problem?

No, that shouldn't make a difference. I don't know about running HDA from HDA, but if you follow my previous method, it should work just fine.

I have a Messiah 2 Chipped PS2 with MAxtor 120Gb drive and am currently using copied HDA CD which boots fine

I am too lazy to mess about with the CD and would rather it auto boot to HDA is this possible without me having to get up out of my chair :FUNNY:

I have had exploits running on a non chipped Ps2 but couldnt get my head round how it could work for chipped PS2

Let me get this straight...I use the memcard exploit to make the files with my ps2 SCUS id thing, then ftp those files onto my memory card under the BADATA-SYSTEM folder, and then whenever I insert that PS1 disc, whatever is named "BOOT.ELF" will boot? What directory is this "BOOT.ELF" supposed to be, and do the files in the FILES folder go directly into the BADATA-SYSTEM or do I need to put them in 'BADATA-SYSTEM/FILES'?(do I keep the folder?)

Everything resides in the BADATA-SYSTEM folder. The min you need (what worked for me) in there to get it going.....

CDVD.IRX (not 100% sure if absolutely needed but it put it in)
SYSTEM (not 100% sure if absolutely needed but it put it in)
TITLE.DB (containing the appropriate boot disc id)
KL.DAT (modified for my keylauncher conf)(only needed for keylaunch)
BOOT.ELF (whatever elf you want booted on startup renamed to this)

Ideally you'd want keylauncher as the boot elf (and at least exeftp configured so you can re-access the mem card) but you can have any other one named "BOOT" if you want, like the HDA elf for eg. Then it'd just simply boot directly into hda every time you pop in the cd.

If you're using keylauncher, just add whatever elf and supporting files to the same dir and just modify the KL.DAT file to bind it to a button.
