Confused Thomas Train and friends CD to DVD conversion

Hello,

I have the original Thomas train and friends (eyetoy game) for PS2, but due to a faulty laser, I can now only access DVD's in my PS2.
I would therefore like to convert the CD to a DVD.

I have tried all methods found, but to no avail. Therefore: does anyone have a proven method to convert this particular game?

In advance, thank you

ps. My PS2 is NOT modded, but can run backed up games with the CogSwap method (on a Mentor32 card).

probably not possible, if you have already tried dumping the game and burning it to a dvd.

get a cheap laser replacement or pot tweak it.

Confused

I have already made the DVD image as described in various guides. Patched it with DVD ScanLite 3.7 etc. I can run the DVD image (ISO file) from the pcsx2 0.9.6.exe PS2 emulator, when choosing the "Linuz Iso CDVD 0.8.0", but as soon as I have burned the image onto a physical DVD instead, and chosen the "Gigaherz's CDVD Plugin 0.7.0", it fails (inserting the original CD it will work).

Can the LBA structure change when going from an iso image to a physical DVD?

Try this tutorial here as it uses nero to do this and works pretty good.

Thank you very much Starlight!

I'm very eager to try it out, unfortunately, I don't have the rights to download it yet. The same goes with the Console Media Patcher by Sonix, that I would love to try out as well. Apparently I have to make a quality post or reply to get these access rights. I'm still trying to find out how to do this! :-)

Best regards, Kenn

Just keep doing what you're doing... making intelligent posts with complete sentences written in English. I have +Rep'd ya so you are now a Registered User and can grab them, so keep up the good work FS4.

Confused

Thank you very much. I now have both the guide by Starlight, and the Console Media Patcher by Sonix. So I will give it another shot, and see if I can make my children happy again (If I succeede in making the copy work).
The guide looks very promising.

Thank you all, and I will make sure to give feedback on the "project", so anyone else can benefit from it.

Best regards, Kenn

StarLight.

Your guide starts from the point where one actually has an ISO image of the CD going to be "transferred" to DVD. This ISO should still be created by some sort of method that involves (DVD GEN/Console Media Patcher) right?
Or do you have any other "trick up you sleeves", that I haven't heard of before? :-)

Best regards, Kenn

You don't need the sonic media patcher just the tutorial as if it is a ps2 cd based disc (blue bottom disc) you will only need to follow that tutorial, but you still need a boot method for the ps2 as it is still a backup in the end.

No the tutorial doesn't start out with a iso file that is just a setting, you want to set it to DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) , you then make a folder and name it what you like and just put the files from the disc to that folder and follow the tutorial and you should be fine.

Hi again,

Thats good to know, because that makes a difference. But can you explain to me, why one would then need programs like the Media patcher? There's a lot of guides on the internet explaining various ways of using programs like Media Patcher or DVDScanLite to change a disktype check from the executable files on the PS2 disk. Your method (I'm not saying it doesn't work! ) dosn't need that part, so how can it work, when you transfer the CD contents to a DVD?

But I will try your method tonight (after work! ), as I hadn't time for it yesterday evening.

I'm going to use the CogSwap method on my Memor32 PS2 card to run the DVD, when it's working. That method use to work for me!

Thank you, best regards Kenn

Well because nero does the dvd patching for you and this is why the cmp program is not needed, i made many ps2 cd-based games etc (blue bottom disc) to dvd this way and they all loaded without any problems as i have 2 modded ps2's still in very good shape.
