TOC refresh not working on V12

I am using a V12. I have used both the COGSWAP and the eject method on my SM3.3. when i boot up both games that need a larger TOC... Rumble fish and apparently rise of kasai... the laser just spins off and makes a loud grinding noise...
is this my V12? my laser? or normal?

I can't get Sm3.3 to do a refresh neither. I am using the slim tool on my pstwo v12. When I enable the internal switch it says "insert bigger toc disc" then I do and disable the internal switch then it just go back to the startup screen and says "not a valid ps2 disc". If I do the exact same process with my swap magic 3.0 cd disc (dvd disc is damaged) and do a toc refresh it works perfect. I need this for the game ris of kasai to work.

Use CDLoader/DVDLoader to do the TOC refresh.

1. Boot your Swap Magic disc (CD or DVD).
2. Swap in either your CDLoader or DVDLoader disc, depending on whether you used the Swap Magic CD or DVD.
3. Press X.
4. At the Change the Disc and press X to Play prompt, press the Triangle button to stop the CDLoader/DVDLoader disc from spinning.
5. Put your large-TOC original PS2 DVD-5 disc in. Press Triangle to start the disc spinning again.
6. Press X to make CDLoader/DVDLoader read the TOC from the large-TOC disc.
7. At the Put in a DVDR by EA Method and Press X to Play prompt, swap in your desired large-enough-TOC-to-be-annoying backup disc and press X.
8. Enjoy your game.

Just for reference, this method works for all PS2 versions. In non-slimline PS2s, the Triangle button will eject/load the disc tray. On slimline PS2s, it will simply stop/start the disc's rotation.

this technique did not work at all for my V12... i tried everything you said with two different games that work perfect in a modded PS2... the swap 3.3 and dvdloader made my PS2 grind grind grind... for Rumble fish and Kasai

Well, from all your posts about your v12 PS2 problems, it sounds like your v12 PS2 is taking a major crap. You might want to find a friend with a v12 PS2, and see if you can replicate the problem(s).

Is this the only way to do a TOC refresh on a v12? I have a v12 with a Ghost Case, and I am wondering about the proper way to do a TOC refresh. (least amount of steps and easiest)

Can someone at last tell us if the TOC refresh is working in the V12 PStwo ?
I had try the above method with Swap Magic 3.6 CD/DVD and CDLoader or DVDLoader, but every time i insert the original large TOC disk ( FIFA 2005 PAL, GTA3 PAL ) i get message from CDLoader or DVDLoader that said "error in verification of disk" or something like that. I dont remember exactly.

hmmm 3.3 does a proper toc refresh on my V12 70011CB date code 4D...

So the problem is with the SM 3.6 version or with the Slim V12 version of PS2 ?
Is there ANY way to make a TOC refresh ?
