I had trouble booting at first also, It seems if you have YDL installed the kboot prompt process will not recognize the live cd even if you manually enter the boot commands. So I took a chance, backed up ps3 to usb hd, and formatted the ps3 hd to wipe out YDL (did not matter to me since I could only boot it in text mode, not having a hi-def tv yet)then set ps3 to boot from other os then the live cd worked great and once at desktop even saw my usb hd.Be aware the live cd is pretty stripped down, just the basic apps and a very plain looking theme, but the cd can be installed at the kboot prompt simply by typing install. After a full install and you get back to the gnome desktop it proves to be pretty quick and attractive. For us poor dudes who are stuck in 480i land this is your linux crisp and colorful on my 40" tube. Now if I could just get some help with the sound not working yet.
