Sounds like you haven't copied the correct files to your FLASH0 - i suggest you re-read the tutorial and make sure you copy the correct files. (did you copy the 'original' ones instead of the 'USB' ones?)

Of course you also need to make sure you have all 3 plugins turned on too - so check that as well.

usbhostfs.prx [VSH]
buzzusbvsh.prx [VSH]
usbhostfs.prx [GAME]

Must all be enabled.

Flash0 is a folder that holds all your psp data inside the system or w/e along wit flash1, well in anywayz in order to access your flash0 u gotta coldboot your psp and hold down R to access your recovery menu, than go down to advanced options and toggle the flash0 usb and your flash0 folder will appear on comp, becareful cuz if u replace to wrong file your psp wont start and your gonna have to either replace file with original or do that system recovery thing well it reinstalls 1.50

1.Do I need to have a umd inside to use the usbmod?
2.Do I need the latest USB 2.0 drivers? My USB is on 1.1 and I'm having a hard
time getting past Microsoft's Validation Genuine check, so I can't update
to 2...

I can load up my isos through usb and see them in my XMB, but when I press start,
Windows makes this sound like the usb is unplugging and replugging a lot, the cable
is fine though, and then gives me an error message, cannot be started (80020321).

RE USB Mod.

1. You MUST have the PC drivers for PSP Type B installed, and have usbhostfs setup. Have a look at this old tutorial for getting the USB working in devhook - the principle (for the PC part) is the same (ignore the PSP bit)

(I had written a nice new tutorial for this, but my browser decided to crash on me, so...)

2. The FLASH0 folder from within the rar package is not to be put on your memory stick - Re-read the tutorial, it explains in detail how to turn on the USB to connect to your firmware's Flash0 space (steps 7 to 10) - you MUST be careful doing this or YOU WILL brick your PSP.

3. It will work with USB 1.1 or 2.0, but it will be VERY slow on 1.1!

4. NoUMD - some games yes, some games no - basically the same as if you had the iso on your memory stick! (ie try it and see!)

5. The USB sound will turn off and on when going between the XMB (VSH) and Game (GAME) - this is why you must have the plugin enabled under both situations!
It may also do it rarely during game play - although i've not had any problems with this (game loading pauses sometimes) it may cause some games to crash (so save regularly!).

6. I will only be answering legitimate queries from now on. Some of the above is already covered in the relevant tutorials - i have expanded on some of it though.

If you aren't sure how to do something and can't follow instructions - Should you really be attempting it?

I think the majority of people here would agree with me on this (including ADMIN).

Sorry if you think i'm being harsh, but it's 1:30am, and i've just read some comments asking about something which if the instructions has been followed would not be an issue.

(p.s. This is me biting my tounge by the way!)

Thank you I really do appreciate your efforts in trying to help everyone including me. About 6 months ago i got my pc to read my psp as PSP Type B a couple of formats and dev hooks later and now it only reads my PSP as USB Device and I cant update the drivers to with PSP type drivers. I followed every direction to the letter. In fact I had this problem for a while i was hoping the new 3.03oec and your guide will be the answer. I really think it has something to do with my OS now. It just recoginizes the psp as a USB mass storage device rather than a PSP Type B. I only need to get by this major part. Thank you again for your patience. I continue to post in hopes that someone is having a similar problem.
