January 4, 2007 - Seven-time All-Star and 2006 AL MVP runner-up Derek Jeter is returning for a second year as 2K Sports' baseball cover athlete and spokesperson. http://ps3.ign.com/objects/815/815888.html ships prior to the new baseball season in "late winter" on Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and PSP.
"We strive with every 2K Sports product to bring the most entertaining and realistic sports experience possible. With Major League Baseball 2K7 we listened to our fans, redesigning the game by strengthening the core gameplay and incorporating new, innovative features," said Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio. "When Major League Baseball 2K7 is released later this winter, fans will experience the most authentic and exciting MLB video game experience on any platform."
"It is a real privilege to represent the premier MLB title in the video game industry," Derek Jeter said. "Just as I am always striving to improve my game, 2K Sports is constantly improving theirs, and this dedication has made Major League Baseball 2K7 the best MLB video game ever."
Jeter was signed to a two-year contract last year, so his return on 2K's cover came as no surprise. It's unknown if Jeter will be retained for future years to become the face of the MLB 2K franchise.
