January 25, 2007 - We've covered just about every angle of http://ps3.ign.com/objects/641/641054.html in the past few months, ranging from the http://ps3.ign.com/articles/707/707196p1.html to footage of the http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/641/641054/vids_1.html. We've even broken down the customization options and the quest mode in our latest http://ps3.ign.com/articles/756/756747p1.html. But we've been saving one of the largest secrets about VF5 for last:
IGN has a created character within the game.
No, you won't be able to face off against Jeremy in the ring, slap Matt around a mountaintop or throw Doug into a rail. Instead, you'll be able to face off against our Virtua Fighter character in the Quest mode. SEGA allowed us the option to make one of the brawlers our own, creating their name, taunt and customized appearances (with two separate costumes). As a result, owners of VF5 will be able to square off against IGN's take on Jacky Bryant in the various arcades and tournaments in the game. Let's take a look at Ryuutoushi, shall we?
Ryuutoushi literally means Dragon Champion, which seemed to fit the Jeet Kune Do fighter quite well. Not only did it give a sense of power to Jacky's moves, it was an homage to the founder of Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee. As such, it only seemed fitting that Jacky's personal phrase when he faced off against challengers would reflect one of Bruce Lee's philosophies about fighting: "Be like water...Be formless." As you can see in the images below, Ryuutoushi is more than prepared to flow, crash and utilize his formless style to smash Sarah and any other opponents that get in his way.
Think you can take on and beat Ryuutoushi? We'll see if you have the skills to take him down when Virtua Fighter 5 hits stores on February 20th.
