Following up on their first promotional video teaser, today Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman speaks to fans on PlayStation Evolution: The Beginning in a new video below.
To quote: PlayStation’s arrival to the world of gaming signaled a change in the status quo and a sign of things to come. The original PlayStation system emerged in 1994 in Japan as a dark horse challenger, a seemingly outgunned newcomer entering a crowded field dominated by legends of the 16-bit era.
PlayStation's advanced technology and innovative controller design won raves with critics and gamers, and in 1995, the system expanded to North America, Europe, and Australia.
Accompanied by a powerful salvo of titles including WipEout, Crash Bandicoot, and Gran Turismo, PlayStation's rapid rise marked the end of one era of videogames and the dawn of another. The world was never the same.

Finally, in related news today http://thesilentchief.com/2013/02/15/sony-registers-3-mysterious-trademarks/ reports that Sony has also registered some mysterious trademarks that may serve as next-gen clues, to quote:
"A few new trademark fillings from Sony Computer Entertainment has us puzzled. The electronics giant has filled trademarks for “Game for the first time” ( はじめてのゲーム ), “HugQme”, and “Kosoda Thein Department” ( コソダテインメント).
At first glance “Game For The First Time” sounds like it could be a new slogan for the company. They’ve trademark similar slogans in the past, such as The World Is In Play for the PS Vita. Could this be Sony’s slogan for the PS4? Hmm….
HugQme could be app related while Kosoda Thein Department leaves us scratching our heads and we already know about Knack.
In other trademark news, Sega filled trademarks for Digital Smart Ball, Code of Joker, and The World of Three Kingdoms ( sounds like Koei may be in for some competition).
Square Enix registered one for Hitman:ICA and Namco Bandai registered something in the nature of Your Dream."
