Video: PS3 BD-J (Blu-ray Java) Running Through a BD-R Disc!
Today DemonHades (linked above) posted a video from cupra4t on YouTube showing homebrew PS3 BD-J (Blu-ray Java) running through a BD-R disc on PS3 Firmware 2.80.
This is the first confirmation that PS3 BD-Java is still alive on the PS3 since it stopped working from USB in PS3 Firmware 2.50.
To quote, roughly translated: It appears that recording to any homebrew BD-R BD-Java, this can be run from any PS3 console from any firmware.
To make it work implements have to record the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders in the root of the disk. PS3 to get it into the menu of [Video] we will bear in our BD and homebrew. I leave you a video:
From here it follows that only banned the BD-Java and the USB reader... with this, the Sony console is able to load emulators and homebrew games once again.
Nice news, it'll be nice if we can get it works on CD/DVD disc instead of BR
Not gonna happen.. this is a Blu-ray Java special feature.. no dvds or cds ever had this. Its not an exploit at anyrate - just following the Blu-ray specifications which allow Java Applets/Application to execute in a sandbox type environment for an interactive experience. All this person did was replace the java applet/application with their own.
Good news, but won't allow us any type of exploit.. unless of course the Java Environment itself has exploits/security holes..
