Video: God of War - Fate of the Titan on GOW Collection PS3 Disc
With the new [Register or Login to view links] site showing a storm brewing and God of War - Fate of the Titan unlockable video on the GOW Collection PS3 disc, speculation has begun on what the next title in the series will be.
Sony Santa Monica has stated that while God of War III is the last in the current story arc, it will not be the last game in the series... hinting that the next game will feature a new hero.
What many might not know is that featured on the God of War Collection PS3 disc is a "Fate of the Titan" video that can be unlocked after beating the game on Spartan Mode.
For those who don't mind spoilers, to quote: The video shows present day footage as the narrator (Gai) explains that "All myths need not be from ancient times" as a band of explorers are shown finding and opening Pandora's Temple.
The video ends with Gai saying, "Soon as with all great myths, a new hero will emerge."
It is worth noting that the video says Chronos the Titan lives another thousand years after the first God of War, but Chronos is actually killed in God of War III by Kratos.
Additionally, the skull of Chronos has a hole in it, in the exact same location that Kratos stabs and kills Chronos with the Blade of Olympus in God of War III.
i hope the next game holds true to the hack and slash button mashing that is god of war. i'm sure that they will have a story that takes hold of us like the gow story, i just hope that it doesn't turn into an action/adventure series.
I am sure they will keep the gameplay intact, don't fix what ain't broke, after all they improved the fighting mechanics in gow3.
I wouldn't mind them putting in some rpg/ character interaction like in mass effect though, the immersion of characters and universe in that game is addicting. I hope more games begin to build upon that and revolutionize in-game character interaction even more. I think heavy rain has some crazy speaking system, haven't played it yet though.
I don't think this means anything, they had another video in which they say that Kratos had a brother and that GoW2 would be the story of his brother.. but I guess all of this is just a bunch of ideas they've thrown around the table, but none of them are necessarily going to be turned into a game.
They never tell you how long Kratos was a god, do they? He was a man when he killed Ares, the god of war, and then took his place in Olympus. After a long while of being the god of war, they tricked him into becoming mortal again.
He could very well have been a god for a thousand years after GOW1..
