Today we received word from I-Friqiya of the new Fuel Overdose PS3 (PSN) trailer video called Action along with an opportunity for a PlayStation 3 Debug or Retail console owner to obtain a free review version!

If you are a Forum Moderator or Senior Member simply reply to this post expressing your interest in reviewing the title for PS3News.com, first come first serve as always... although if more than one person is interested we may be able to get a few review copies.

Below is the official Press Release and Fuel Overdose PS3 (PSN) Action trailer, along with some screenshots (more in fullsize attached HERE) as follows:

TOKYO (December 6th, 2012). Following the release of “Racing” the first installment in the “Tactical-Action-Racing” series, the Fuel Overdose team is, today, proud to reveal the trailer “Action”. From traditional upgradable weapons to special attacks, this new trailer focuses on the large array of action game mechanics present in the game. Fuel Overdose is scheduled for release on PlayStation Network (PS3) and PC.

The action in Fuel Overdose comprises:
    • Upgradable weapons: Machine gun, rockets, mines
    • The possibility to attack, defend and counter-strike at 360 degrees
    • Bombs located at strategic locations on the track and that can be detonated remotely
    • Grappling hooks that can be used as weapons to attack and counter-attack
    • Distinctive Super and Ultra Attacks for each character that can be unleashed once your Berserk gauge is filled
    • Not to forget unique Skill moves for each character
    • Combo chains to extend your chances of survival on the race track
    • The possibility to play defense by triggering your shield
    • Race Danger: a mass-destruction climatic catastrophe that only the highest bidder of the pre-race auction can summon

    About the Action trailer

Dropping mines or banana peels, shooting missiles or shells, it is all expected, so what we tried to do with Fuel Overdose is to take the action racing experience one step further and offer the widest array of attacks and tactics ever seen in an action racing game.
    • As its core Fuel Overdose is a retro action racer where you can equip your vehicles with some good old classic upgradable weapons: a machine gun that proves extremely useful when chaining combos, a rocket launcher for more substantial damage and mines that can help you to keep distance from your rivals. And no one is ever safe with the possibility to fire at 360 degrees when combining your weapons with the spinning and skidding techniques.
    • Even when your rivals seem out of range, keep an eye on them as they might be close to one of the bombs disseminated at strategic locations and that can be detonated remotely.
    • Use your grappling hooks as weapons to electrify your enemies, to counter them, or even to increase your shooting accuracy.
    • Just as in a classic fighting game, the more you get hit, the more you fill your Berserk gauge. Once partially filled you can trigger a Super Attack. Once fully filled you can unleash an Ultra Attack. Whether offense, defense, stealth, or pure speed orientated, each character has a set of 3 unique attacks for a total of 24 distinctive Super and Ultra Attacks.
    • Each character also has a unique Skill Move: from Rosa’s Jump to A.J.’s Side Rush, these techniques that don’t consume the Berserk gauge can give you a decisive edge to win the race.
    • When you run out of ammos, keep in mind that you can still play melee style and try to get rid of an opponent by pushing him out of the road or on an obstacle.
    • All these techniques can be combined through a combo system that rewards you with extra life points. So if you want to survive on the race track, you can try to hide, but joining the combat might just be a better option in the end.
    • Always keep in mind that you can play defense at any time by triggering your magnetic shield. But be careful, this technique must be used wisely as it consumes the Berserk gauge
    • Last, the Race Danger, probably the most powerful technique of the Fuel Overdose universe…if you manage to get it. Before each race a secret tender rewards the highest bidder with the power to summon a climatic disaster over his enemies. Of course, losers are not refunded and will have to leave with empty hands and pockets.

    Coming soon

So far 2 pillars of our gameplay have been unveiled: “Racing” and “Action”. The coming trailer will focus on one of the aspects that make the Fuel Overdose experience totally different from what any other action racing game: its tactical aspect. So keep an eye on the third episode of our “Tactical-Action-Racing” series, titled “Tactical”.

    What is Fuel Overdose?

Fans of combat racers for ages, we have played a lot of them over the last 15 years and we started our journey wanting to bring back a certain idea of the genre but also propose something completely new and fresh. We focused our efforts on trying to provide innovative and fun action/combat game mechanics while bringing in a tactical touch to it.

Put simply, we like to think of Fuel Overdose as a “Tactical-Action-Racing” game:

Action: From the large array of upgradable weapons, one can expect for such a game, Fuel Overdose also features innovative and fun weapons and game mechanics such as a grapple that can be used in both offensively and defensively to bomb detonators, not to mention a whole fighting system that offers unique skills moves and attacks to each character of the game.

Tactical: with Fuel Overdose, the choices made before and during the race have a real impact on your chances of success. The game leaves no room for luck and features a resource management system for the vehicles and weaponry, a super/ultra attack gauge inherited from the versus fighting genre as well as auction events than can bring a decisive edge to win races.

Racing: Fuel Overdose is not a combat-arena game, it is, as its core, a racing game that requires driving skills, and that allows and values different racing styles and a diverse garage of vehicles, themselves all customizable to improve their driving, maneuvering, defensive and offensive performance.

    The team behind Fuel Overdose

Created in 2010 I-Friqiya was born from the desire to develop independent games for the digital market. Having all worked in large video game companies and big studios, we believed that a small and focused development team could bring something more to the table, namely a very focused production and an editorial line that could be held without compromise or concessions.

The project and studio developed around a multicultural team of European and Japanese talents:

Jerome Coquard took on the tasks of game design, level design, programming, and also crafted the full scenario and universe of the game.

Ryo Tazaki is the graphic design and artist behind all the graphics and animations in the game, from tracks to vehicles and all the way down to the HUD

Hideyuki Saito is the second artist on the game and he specifically focused his time and talent on all the character designs than can be seen in the game.

Skander Djerbi and Aroun Ducroux are both co-founders of I-Friqiya and followed the production and marketing of the title.

    Arrow

He replied, stating that he would send matt101 a European voucher code this week, and asked if Tidusnake666 wants a EU voucher also or if you want to wait for the US release (probably not before mid-January he said).

Let me know and I will relay the message!
