Ubisoft: No Plans for PS3 Version of Splinter Cell: Conviction

Speaking on the company's http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5271091065/m/1911036467, developer Ubisoft stated, "Splinter Cell Conviction is a true Microsoft exclusive title and there are no plans to have Splinter Cell Conviction on other platforms."

The firm elaborated on the decision to remain exclusive to 360, describing the Splinter Cell franchise as being 'historically linked' with Microsoft consoles beginning with the original title in 2002.

To quote: "There are several reasons behind this choice. First of all, Splinter Cell games are historically linked with Microsoft platforms.

The first Splinter Cell on the original Xbox was one of the first games to fully exploit the console's technical possibilities," added the company.

"At that time, Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a "link of heart" between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance)."

"The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support."

I think that's a good decision, the game belongs to MS, Ubisoft games have many glitches let them have a single platform so there would be less.

Let's read between the lines here shall we.....
To quote: "There are several reasons behind this choice. First of all, Splinter Cell games are historically linked with Microsoft platforms.
As like MGS and FF, yet they seem to have found their way over to the Xbox. So the point is mute.

The first Splinter Cell on the original Xbox was one of the first games to fully exploit the console's technical possibilities," added the company.
Seeing that the PS3 is technically better than the Xbox. Just starting with Blu-ray. I'd say their game has not pushed anything as far as "other" gaming console on the market. Says a lot about their capabilities.

"At that time, Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a "link of heart" between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance)."
We sold our souls to the MS devil. Nothing new here as this is the MS SOP ( standard operation of procedure ) to do business. If we can't better you, we will buy you. Again FF, found it's way over to the Xbox.

"The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support."
We don't have the funds for multi platform. We can only optimize games on the "easier" said console to develop for. Plus, we really don't want to take on MGS anyway. That game rocks! Opps, did I say that out loud?

I'm sorry, but this is TOTAL BS.
I've long awaited the next version of splinter cell after Double Agent, but this is complete BS.

I think Ubisoft is just getting CHEAP.
That's pretty messed up, since Splinter Cell, was also released on PS2 along with the XBOX.

AND Gamecube. So basically it started as a game on ALL platforms, but you know that means it's historically a Microsoft title. AKA Microsoft paid us more money, so I guess history has changed.

to be honest if they don't release this on the PS3 i wont be upset.

after the dodgy port they gave us of Splinter Cell: Double Agent, i don't think i would buy another splinter cell game for the ps3.

so many things about that game is so wrong... the game would freeze at random points, the graphics/textures in some areas are crap compared to 360, like the ICE for instance. also if your controller is set to auto-power-off when not in use and you leave the game long enough for the controller to turn itself off, the game will freeze *not exactly, you can turn the controller on and move the camera angle with the analog stick, however you cannot do anything else, cant go into menu or move your character.

these bugs might not seem all that bad to alot of people, but i have played this same game on the 360 when my brother had his 360... and the ps3 version is a total let-down when compared...

i love the splinter cell games, i remember years back i actually bought the 1st splinter cell game for xbox like 2 weeks BEFORE i even got my xbox and played it at a mates place.

but if they are going to give us another crap port i would rather they did not even bother... and it looks like that is the case.

save wasting our money on another inferior game.

Thank God this crap is not coming for the PS3!!! Finally my prayers were heard!!!

This franchise was always a MGS wannabe. All the games were horrible, specially Double Agent.
And as far as I know Fisher retired in the last game so, what kind of game is going to be this time? Another GTA clone? Iīm really tired of those games.

In conclusion Microcrap did something good for the first time making this crap a Crap Box exclusive.
