Stereoscopic 3D on PS3: Updated List of All 3D Games and Movies

Today Sony's Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared an updated list of all 3D games and movies that support Stereoscopic 3D on the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: Affordable 3D gaming was a reoccurring theme at this year's PlayStation E3 keynote, whether it was the announcement of PlayStation's upcoming 3D Gaming Display and redesigned 3D glasses.

But even with more sophisticated and affordable 3D technology, we need 3D games to play and 3D movies to watch. That's where this list comes in: I've collected almost every piece of stereoscopic 3D-capable PS3 content here, from Blu-ray to PSN. If I missed a game, let me know in the comments!

Its nice to see the list finally growing, it would be better to see more games in 3D though.

I wish Sony would just accept that 3D is going to fail on home consoles, nothing to do with games though there just isn't enough TV content to justify a 3D tv for the vast majority of folks that don't buy their tv based on their games consoles.

I'd wager you are wrong about failure. 3D is a premium now, because they can get the premium price, due to the newness. Eventually, because implementing 3D doesn't really cost much, it will just be a feature that TV's have - and not something you pay extra to get. For now though, they are getting as many dollars as they can. The true future of 3D, likely isn't even grasped yet - especially by content providers. Give it time though.

Yeah but 3D TVs in their current form (stereoscopic) will never become the norm, because of their need for glasses, 1080p auto-stereoscopic screens have already been prototyped and shown off and are only about 2 years away from consumers (probably less). If Sony were serious about pushing 3D on the playstation 3 they'd patch in nVidia 3D vision support since there are a lot more of those in consumers hands than there are 3D TVs, since a 3D PC monitor and nVidia Vision is a lot cheaper than a 3D TV and so people would be more inclined to buy them instead of a 3D tv which would become obsolete in a year or two.

3D Screens that don't need you to wear glasses will still produce "sterescopic" images. (Assuming we don't upgrade mankind to three or more eyes.)

Now I feel myself reminded of "LED TV"s ... when the term "LCD" was replaced by "LED" although they only replaced the CCFL backlight behind the LCD with a LED one. ^^

Though it's not like I'd disagree with you. I think the glasses have no future, but IMHO the autostereoscopic solutions limited to specific viewing zones aren't that much better. I guess we'll still have to wait. Somehow I'm glad I bought a really nice TV just before the 3D boom started. (Sony Z4500 ... because of some extended warranty program by sony at that time it will last until 2014 at the least, too) So I guess there's no need for me to put too much thought into this matter, yet.
