This would mean no backwards compatibility with ps3 games damn.
Or they'll have a cut down version of the ps3 hardware built into the first PS4 models, but they will see the chance of porting them and making people pay for them again from the PS store, and remove hardware compatibility for ps3 games in the future models.

Well something tells me that they will only update hardware so is more efficient has more computing power and better graphics, but i do not see this coming in near future as ps3 is holding strong and rumors are like *****es nothing comes good from them
Great news if the Cell is really going the way of the dodo... also horrible news if Sony is really going to use AMD to make their CPU... even more horrible news if it's going to be a CPU/GPU, it might have less graphics processing power than 6670 which itself is a joke.
Doesn't make sense. Sony should keep Cell. Cell is powerful and has been on the market for a while now. By now, developers should know how to get the best out of it. Keep Cell and improve other aspects of the system (graphics, more memory, etc).
PS4 should be backward compatible with PS3. Additionally, the hardware should be powerful enough to emulate (software) PS and PS2. Sony, don't throw out the baby with the bath water, give it steroids.

Ah common... No Cell means no PS3 backward compatibility?! This would be the biggest mistake of all times. They will not only lose all their PS3 gamers because no one is waiting for a whole new 2000 euro investment for gaming.
better yet, the ps4 will be a leased console with users paying for the time that they spend on the system. it will start with a low lease price from the stores to prevent lawsuits from people claiming that they own the hardware that they purchase. and it will continue to charging customers accounts automatically for the amount of time that the console is powered on, no matter what is or is not happening.
and it may further continue to making customers purchase timed licenses for games and applications that they want to run on the system. customers may extend the timed license by purchasing another complete timed license without any way to prorate or divide the license to smaller time frames.
