Sony to Bring PS3 3D Gaming in 2010 via Firmware Update
As a follow-up to our earlier article on news coming out of Sony's Media/Investor Conference is the following:
Sony intends to deliver PS3 3D Gaming in 2010 via Firmware Update.
According to the image from their Slide Presentation [PDF] below, 3D games will be released in line with Sony's 3D strategy and all PlayStation 3 consoles will be upgradeable via PS3 Firmware update to support 3D.
Needless to say, this should come as no surprise as several PS3 3D demos have been available over the last few months, including those from TGS 2009.
I don't think you'd need one with a refresh rate higher than 120Hz.
I don't know if the "240hz" televisions are really higher than 120hz. They use a special kind of backlight that dynamically lights the screen which greatly reduces motion blue. They're much easier on the eyes and the difference during motion-intensive action is like night and day (next time you're at best buy just take a look for yourself).
Just when I though I needed another TV hehehe, never mind, it's a funny mistake
I was thinking that the "slide"? says "All PS3 units will be firmware upgradeable to 3D" ... but what about the TV's, are prepared to support this technology? or will we be forced to buy another one? because if so, it would really piss me off 'cause I just buy a new HD TV and I'm no willing to get a new one unitll that one breaks or something .
Anyway, I just hope that "firmware upgradeable" apply to TV's as well.
