Sony Announces Improvements for PlayStation Network Store
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) have announced that they will be making many improvements to the PlayStation Network Store.
They stated they will be improving the digital quality of the games that are soon to be arriving on the store, to quote:
For the few years the store has been online, it has been in a huge competition with the 360's version of PSN, XBLA.
Items for the PSP like songs will be better quality when downloaded from your PC. The PSN Store sees games such as Fat Princess coming soon and with a huge range of PS one originals also on their way, Sony are putting their all into the PlayStation for the moment.
Despite having over 200 full games already on the network, Sony are planning to expand that to around 300 by the end of the year.
It is also rumored that Sony have secured exclusivity for DLC content for upcoming games. Xbox Live needs to watch their backs for the moment.
Now when Sony is pushing the store; I do think they should enable XMB access from the store... so it feels more integrated into the PS3 system. Also I think Sony should use the logotype included in the news, together with the background when the store starts up or when hovering the icon in the XMB. That thing that popups there looks plain nasty (same goes for Photo Gallery!).
Otherwise it sounds great!! Keep it up Sony ... it's good for us, the customers!
A bit off topic: Sony, change the white "PlayStation 3" text and sound effect (when starting a game) to the text + sound effect you're using in ALL your trailers!
I like the new look of the PSN Store indeed, because of the structure sorted out much more in menus this time. But I hope PSN developers and programmers will continue to have the menu "latest" categorized with all the new announcements for a month at a time. I mean without categorize yesterdays announcements within a month. Have anyone wondered about the TV series and episodes that will probably be available soon for downloading, or is it streaming?
