Update: Despite THQ CEO Brian Farrell http://www.vg247.com/2010/02/03/thq-brian-farrell-calls-ps-motion-controller-arc/ calling it Arc, according to Geoff Keighley's http://twitter.com/geoffkeighley/status/8611839612, to quote: "FYI I'm hearing Arc is NOT the name of the Sony Motion Controller, but a code name." However, Sony has http://www.siliconera.com/2010/03/01/a-playstation-arc-trademark-wonder-what-thats-for/ the Arc trademark in Japan.
Today VG247.com (linked above) reports that according to a concrete source speaking under conditions of strict anonymity Sony's PS3 Motion Controller will be named PlayStation Arc, of which a domain has also been registered in the same name at PlayStationArc.com.
This news comes just over a month after the previous rumor that the PlayStation 3 Motion Controller was dubbed Gem, which ended up being an early code name for the product.
To quote: "The company is now saying its Motion Controller - the official name thus far - will release "this year": global boss Kaz Hirai had previously claimed it would be out this March.
The Motion Controller consists of one or two wand devices, each topped with a trackable ball. It works with PSEye.
We've contacted Sony for comment."
SCEE replied as expected: "We don't comment on rumor or speculation."
