From my experience in a 3rd world country where we import games and consoles from 1st world retail stores and online stores (in the millions, so yes we contribute to your sales figures) it does. it also does contribute in 1st world nations as some have commented on considering HB/backups in their purchases.
Your insistence on disagreeing is simply based on a misguided logic and the assumption that nothing beneficial comes out of piracy and homebrew
. Even something as simple as wanting to backup your bought games or wanting to be able to have discs but still run your games off HDD with a hacked console can contribute to a decision to buy a console
Maybe you don't see that but its true. I could go as far as saying it helps game sales but that would be much harder to defend.
