Rockstar: If GTA IV freezes, erase Game Data and Start Over

According to mclaren777 at the US PlayStation Forums, a Rockstar employee has said that those who are experiencing problems with GTA IV freezing should "erase the Game Data (the original install and the game saves) and then start over." This apparently solves the issue.

To quote: I had this same problem so I called Rockstar. The lady on the phone told me to erase the game data (the original install and the game saves) and then start over. I did what she told me to do and the freezing problem went away.

And can the person who made this thread please include this information in the original post?

Edit: I have a 60GB NTSC launch unit.

Same Problem here, removed the gamedata and it works great (but for how long..)

I had no problems with mine, it must have been just a bad batch of game discs. Some have put it down to a problem with the launch 60GB models but I have one and it is fine. Tbh as long as mine works I couldn't care less, although I admit, if mine was faulty I would be pretty pissed.
