Retailers Break Street Date of May 26, Selling inFamous for PS3

    Sponsored Links
One of the most anticipated PlayStation 3 games of 2009 will be officially released on May 26th, 2009.

However, if you look hard enough, you may be able to find the Infamous at retail stores right now and you might be able to purchase it.

At least two different people were able to acquire a copy of Infamous more than three weeks early. They were nice enough to share their exploits on [Register or Login to view links] and [Register or Login to view links] forums.

Infamous went to gold status on April 15th, so the broken street date was to be expected sooner or later. Hopefully, this will lead to Sony releasing Infamous early so impatient fans can get their hands on the long-awaited exclusive title.

The game has been getting some astonishing praise from critics, and appears like this one will be one of those great PS3 games of the year!

I HATE IT when I'm the store a few days before a big release date, and they have piles and piles of the game behind the tills. right there! and they wont sell you one because they will get in trouble with sony. No begging or bribing has ever helped me get a game before retail from the shop. yet you can bet the same store clerks and managers go home the very same night with those games and have all the fun before the rest of us.

Well done to everyone who got their copy early!

    Thumbs Down Not worth it

Sadly, I can't think of a better word to describe this than 'crime'. Everyone knows basically the only way someone were to have gotten their hands on a copy of this LONG before its release is to have stolen it right from the store. I can almost completely guarantee that the person who posted these pics up works at a store like WalMart or something similar. Its quite simple really, they went into the back (where the employees hang out for lunch, etc., and stole this from the rack/pile once they located and could snatch it. They better hope their employer doesn't look this kinda stuff up, lol.

Besides, the poor people probably can't play the damn thing anyway. There are usually time constraints on things like this to discourage people from doing this kind of crap. That's why we don't see an in-game picture other than the one of the icon on the XMB. This person is a tool and everyone who is jealous over this is a tard. The moron stole this from the store simply for bragging rights, they can't even play it yet i'm sure.

I will say good job to the guy though. Good job moron, you have a nice shiny case, disc and colored sheets of paper. That's about all the good they will be doing you until the game is officially launched. So actually, i'm just gonna laugh at you instead of be envious of you! :-D

In the past games like MGS4 were sold early. The game has been done for quite some time, fact is most games are finished 3 months or more before their release and everything else goes to marketing production and so on. In fact I almost got my hands on a MGS4 bundle in advance.

But I do have a question, is that time lockout thing something you can prove or just some BS you said so people would think you are smarter? 1: They can't do that because if people without internet couldn't download the patch to play the game and people with it could avoid a patch blocking play by just going offline. 2: If you think that they can block a certain date too you're mistaken. Even if they could there is a easy fix of just changing the date and time.

So we have proven that you can't have a required patch or a date lock out or anything along the lines of that, how would they block it? You know I hate when people are hit in the face with facts that someone did get the game a month early. I know you're jealous of him, but next time think before you post. You post was complete garbage and was only used to try and make your self look smart, calling everyone who wishes they had the game too a "tard".

Well I have done my part people can decide weather or not you are actually the one who is jealous or not. Me I have a driving exam so bye.

before making hasty comments, you might want to read the source thread on neogaf, which this article directly links to. it wasn't a stolen copy. he acquired it through ebay, sold from a woman who works at SCEA (it was a review copy). as for the timed lockout... i've never come across a console game that didn't let you play it before the release date. the only thing coming close to that would be online (multiplayer) portions of the game that require you to log into the developers/publishers servers.

well, i have to admit, this all got me pretty excited... not having to wait another 3 weeks! plus the time it gets to my door... count in another week.

anyways, this is something that looks fishy indeed, and it is something serious enough to worry about -- for Sony and its distributors. when a countdown is set a game release, there is usually a lot of work to build up hype on the game with various intensified marketing strategies and about early copies being freely sold, there is no great ps3 games that i have read about or heard of, with some concrete evidence of being in the hands of a casual buyer so early before the release date.

there is always extreme precautions taken, and if this great game (not the best this year, but definitely an 8+/10 rating in my opinion) is being messed with, this early, then it leaves to wonder about future super duper blockbusters, like god of war 3, or the releasing sooner, uncharted 2. maybe people will willfully break in GS or wherever they can get their early dose to satisfy years of waiting! /hint! hehe...

I say big fricken deal? Who cares? Next..... not like this is Metal Gear 5, FFXIII or GOW3. Long running games with some meaning / fan base. Good for this guy. I don't feel like I'm missing out on something, lol. Heck, I got one of those recall LBP sitting here unopened. I bought another copy once the new release came out. Yet, never thought a big deal of having one, lol. We can wait the 3 weeks, no worries

First off, yes! It is true, just the first to come to mind, KillZone 2 had a time constraint on it. I won't go into detail more on it, look it up yourself. It isn't that had to find, but I suppose you were just too worked up running your mouth at me to have noticed. Besides, its simply an opinion. There was no need for you to freak out about it like the crazed fanboy you are. Christ, it really proves to me how many sad, fat, pathetic, ten year olds there are on these sites lately.

BTW, all your name calling and bashing towards me just makes you look like a jackass. I'm the one trying to make people sound dumb? Look at your post you moron! You are a total hypocrite. Go take your fourth grade 'exam' you freaking tool! Don't try to talk like you're better than me or anyone else for that matter. You go all offensive b/c someone said something bad about a game?! Go get a life seriously.

Once more, no! I don't give a crap about this game, quit making assumptions about people. Like I said, it's just my opinion, get your head out of your ass and quit believing people are after you. If anything, your stupid post, gives reason that you brought this on yourself. Get over it and deal with it.

OOOOOooooo, excuse me. Sorry that I hurt your feelings too. Get over it people! Besides, anything you read on the interweb can be complete BS and mean nothing. My comments are no different. So the source wouldn't have changed my mind either, I know how messed up some people are, just pointing out a possibility that may have been purposely left out or excluded. Of course the guy won't admit that he stole it, if he did. He very well could have gotten it off eBay, that still doesn't change the possibility that the person he got it from didn't steal it. No matter what happened, there is no guarantee with any of it. Just making a statement and throwing out my opinion on the matter. No one needs their panties in a bunch over it. Rant over :-D
