    PS3 NJ (Not Java) Media Server for PlayStation 3 is Released

    Today Roberto Bender has released PS3 NJ (Not Java) Media Server homebrew application for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

    NJ (Not Java) Media Server is, by the way, a media server. It's built in C# and targets the Playstation 3 system.

    PS3 NJ Media Server Key Features:

    - NJ Media Server has been built for PS3 System (mainly) but it should work under other systems as well (not tested)

    - Image Files Support

    - EXIF Support (Such as picture taken date, orientation)
    - Folder Album Organization

    - Audio Files Support
    - MP3 Files Support
    - ID3 Tags and Lyrics Tags Support
    - Last FM Album Art/Artist Picture Download

    - Video Files Support
    - Video Thumbnail Creation
    - Native PS3 Video Support (working in other formats and subtitles)

    it crash on me.. specially to those files that is in JIS filename.

    nice, but why not just make your own unique name instead of using one that puts you in comparison with one that already exists?

    can anyone guarantee and verify this download is 100% safe and secure.. does anybody else have the trouble i am having, from the link above, v1.05 that ms internet security essentials says "beware not usually dowloaded content" or something along them lines and wants me to delete it with its red danger system thing... its probably means nothing but its made me delete it straight away anyway...

    i guess i'll stick to the newer version of ps3 media server until something far better than whats available now comes out..

    Its interesting that he has built this tool in .Net - but hasn't used scrambler tool on it. I can reverse engineer all the code from this application and rebuilt it myself.. Anyway.. here's a snippet from one of the Libraries he's created - NJ_HTTPServer:

    Its just the declarations for each method, but I can get all the source code easily. Interesting..

    I can go through the code now that I found out I can reverse it - and see if its legit and not dodgy.. if you wish..

    well - I didn't bother going to his site - just grabbed the release and reverse engineered it.. a bit more than you'll ever accomplish..

    Here is an update to NJ Media Server version 1.0.6.1 Alpha for PS3, with the following changes:

    • Bug Fixes (a lot)
    • Deadlocks using windows Media Player
    • Statistics Disabled
    • Full Subtitle Download Support. Still not using the subtitles
    • Now you can double click a file and run it under your local default media player
