audio settings for ps3 media server

i'm wondering what the audio settings should be in ps3 media server to get hd audio (dts-hd, trueHD, etc) when streaming an mkv file from my pc ? i have the latest version (1.90.1) and my system is connected with hdmi. my ps3 is set to linear pcm.

will my receiver indicators light up for the audio stream being used?

how do i know if i am really getting hd audio if my receiver does not light up?
