November 3, 2006 - We finally received our PlayStation 3 test systems today, and since opening the box have been plowing through the system's features, popping in games and generally getting frantic over what to do next. One thing that we've learned in our short period of time with the system so far is that the test system doesn't have all of the media and connectivity functionality of the retail systems.
For example, we haven't been able to view photos or video from a Memory Stick, or play back an inserted audio CD. Likewise, while we're able to set up our WiFi connection, the test systems don't come with the Internet browser. Blu-ray movie playback isn't currently supported on the system, and backwards compatibility also appears to be non-functional.
We're expecting to receive our retail PlayStation 3 systems early next week, so we'll update with info on all of these functions then.
