Smile Playing .ts Files Via Vlc On Linux...

    Hi,

Can someone confirm that the PS3 is able to play MPEG-2 TS or MPEG-4 AVC TS files through YDL (VLC) smoothly and output AC3 audio via SPDIF(optical). I heard that there is not enough processing power dedicated to Linux for it to play HD video files such as (.ts) and i wondered if this was definitely true? :??

    Thanks

    Chris

    HD playback...

Currently HD content doesn't play very well with VLC on PS3 (or any other free software) because SPE optimizations aren't done yet. Furthermore AC3 passthru doesn't work either. RSX can't be utilized, though SPE optimization probably is enough. Power is not the problem. Lack of progress and information is.
