LittleBigContra on LittleBigPlanet is a Remarkable PS3 Recreation

Update: There are 8 stages in total and 7 authors on the LittleBigContra team. You can find them on the PlayStation Network as follows: Jungle: MisterAnderson - PSN: Leonidas2123, Base 1: Orz- PSN: SaitoHalifax, Waterfall: PSN - RyanardoDavinci, Base 2: Orz- PSN: SaitoHalifax, Snowfield: PSN: NinjaMicWZ, Energy Zone: El_Beefo - PSN: El_Beefo, Hangar: Jaeyden - PSN: Jaeyden, and Alien's Lair: Donkey Show - PSN: gevurah22.

Various members from http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=349591 have teamed up in an outstanding collaboration to recreate the classic NES game Contra within LittleBigPlanet.

The iconic 2D shooter is revived in LBP thanks to the addition of the "Paintinator" in the Metal Gear Solid level pack.

The massive project spans eight different levels, each painstakingly recreated in the LBP engine. Impressive, yes - but we're wondering how long it will stay on the servers before the moderation team shuts it down for its obvious copyright infringement.

I don't think copyright is an issue in LBP since all the good levels are adapted from either a game or a movie, and they still online though!

That video was absolutely amazing. There detail to the original map layout is second to none from any other user created level I've seen. It must be quite hard to play though compared to the original, with using LBP gameplay and all.

As stated above, unfortunately these maps will probably be taken off soon. It's really a shame though, considering how much time and effort it takes to come up with detailed maps such as these ones. I honestly belive if the content is user made, copyright laws can only be targeted towards the creator and not the host provider.

Watching the video, copyright did come to my mind as well...I was at first thinking that it's not that bad... then I saw the contra logo at the bottom of the screen...:-/

Anyways, I bet the copyright holder will not only, NOT sue the creator, but get into a meeting with the LBG team and the creator to make this purchasable content (stages 2-8 for example (Stage 1 == free trial) ) and then a fraction, 20%, can go to the creator.
